I updated the server late yesterday to 1.20.3.3401 and suddenly it started crashing, with no warning, just the icon would die in the system tray
It constantly does so often within minutes of reopening PMS even when nothing is playing.
I have attempted rolling back to various different versions of PMS both public & Plex Pass releases and the problem persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it simply unusable ATM
Logs attached
I also have had issues with builds 3401 and 3402. I ended up having to roll back to a previous version and restore my databases. Build 3401 was particularly bad because optimizing or even backing up my database would hang the server. I rolled back to 3343 and haven’t had any more issues.
Mine is also crashing since upgrading and always crashes a few seconds after startup. My other Windows 10 machine upgraded fine so no idea what is causing it.
This may not be your particular issue, but I had a similar issue years ago, when my Windows 10 Plex server was transcoding video using the Intel video chipset on the motherboard instead of the nVidia card. I could not get Plex to use a particular card so I ended up ensuring no video transcoding.
Thanks I wish it was that simple for me, I tried turning off transcoding and GPU acceleration but to no avail. It will just crash within minutes of relauching, even multiple times when I have just beeing trying to change settings.
Thanks, guess you’re the lucky one, I rolled back to 3252 and even further back and it fixed nothing.
I’m getting to the point of resetting windows and doing a proper clean install to see if that fixes it!
i got this issue as well. can’t play anything. I rolled back and all is well. presumably another stable release that wasn’t tested properly. seems to account for about 20% of them
Same issue with me. It would crash every time I tried to Transcode with Intel QuickSync. I got it to work, but I don’t know how. I just restarted PMS multiple times and eventually it worked, but every time a have to restart PMS or the computer PMS will crash several times before it just starts to work. I looked through the logs, I don’t really know what I am looking for but I did find what looks like something to do with Transcoding trying to start then failing. I have not had time to look further, but eventually I am going to have to try to find out what is going on.
I haven’t but there is no indication that there is anything wrong with the database. after rolling back to a previous version of plex everything is fine. It just breaks after installing the latest update.
Is there some change in the database setup in the latest version that would necessitate this repair?
just checked as I noticed that there is now a more recent version being offered through update (3437). updated to this and initial impression is that the issue has been fixed.
An acknowledgment would have been great but I suppose the main thing is that the issue has gone away
