I added a Photo Library for the first time and when PMS started scanning my photos it immediately crashed. Tried again, same thing. I’m running PMS 1.5.5 on a Mac mini with 10.9.5. I can post logs later if need be.
Anyone? Attached is a log.
Ok, so I guess photo libraries just don’t currently work at all? This is a new clean install of MacOS and PMS as well: did it just 6 months ago maybe.

It is crashing whilst processing a video within your photos library. The file that was involved with the last 3 crashes
/Volumes/home/Photos/Cassidy/Misc./2013-2016/Cassidy Dancing.mp4
I will refer this to the development team - meanwhile move that file out of the library and see if it gets further. There may be a crash processing another video if they have similar attributes. May need to ask you for the file if the cause of the crash is not obvious from the crash dumps uploaded and the logs
Ok. I will try that. I can certainly provide the video if you need it.

Yes please. Please upload on dropbox or similar service and send me a link to the file by private message. Thank you

Thank you - I have passed the link on
@sa2000 So it crashed again when I added another folder in my main Photos folder. Here are the logs. Where exactly does it show what file caused the crash? I’ve looked in various log files and don’t see where that is.

The Plex Crash Uploader.log and earlier logs Plex Crash Uploader.1.log etc would show the times of the crashes
Then one needs to check the Plex Media Server.log files (would be previous one if you restarted the server after the crash Plex Media Server.1.log and earlier of multiple crashes / restarts - looking just before the time logged in the crash uploader logs
But it is not obvious in this latest crash. The crash occurred at 14:04:05.665 but the server log shows just processing some photos just before the crash. There were only 2 mp4 showing in the log and they were being processed some time before

So not conclusive - unless it picked another video but crashed before logging references to it
So I am afraid it is not clear which video file
Could you see if there are any files within this path
/Users/plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Crash Reports/1.5.5.3634-995f1dead/PLEX MEDIA SERVER
@sa2000 Thanks, I tried adding the folder again and it didn’t crash, so maybe it was a fluke.
I do have one more question though. I want to turn on Camera Upload, but would like the files to be stored in a certain folder within my Photos folder (which is what the Plex Photos Library is linked to). Is their anyway to specify this? I see that you can choose a certain library, or a certain album, but I don’t see a way to specify where the actual files will be stored.

If you create the folder on the server within the photos library - so just in windows, create a subfolder with the name of the album that you want to have for this phone
Then in the ios app in camera upload settings, select the photos library and select that folder as your album to upload into

Simple enough, but the folders I created aren’t showing up?
What is the root of the Photos library?
folders ? Are these for different devices?
Examples of how it can be done
Library : Photos
D:\PlexMedia\Photos
You could create these subfolders
D:\PlexMedia\Photos\AA_iPhone
D:\PlexMedia\Photos\BA_iPhone
D:\PlexMedia\Photos\AA_iPad
Then on device AA_iPhone, select existing library Photos and select as album AA_iPhone
and BA_iPhone select same library and as album select BA_iPhone
etc
This is similar to what I have - except I have the uploads of all devices going to an uploads library rather than the main photos library
/home/Photos (PMS photo library is pointed to this folder)
I made two folders for two devices as a test…
/home/Photos/Camera Upload 1
/home/Photos/Camera Upload 2
I then went into the iOS app and choose the appropriate library, however I do not see the folders I created under “Album”.

It has been a while since I set mine up - may be get the iOS app to create the folder.
So selecting New Album and typing in the album name on the iOS app camera upload setting
So first remove the folders you created and let the iOS app create them

Got it. You just have to create it in the iOS app.
