PMS Folders on Synology

Hello all,

Is there a magic word that gives me access to the PMS folder structure from my NAS web GUI? I see the shared folder but I cannot see anything else. What gives?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
The contents of the Plex share are only Plex’s metadata and database files. By default, I do not grant permission to them because some folks have thought that’s where they should put their media which it isn’t. Unless doing manual debugging, there is no need to access it. It’s owned and used by the plex user only

Chuck,

How do I get access to the plugins directory? Is it not there when on a NAS?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
Adding plug-ins are the only reason anyone would need to and you found it

Control Panel - Shared Folders
Highlight and Edit the Plex share
Permissions tab - Give your username R/W access
Save

Open File Station
Navigate Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins
Copy your plug-in there
Right-click the plug-in - Properties
Change the ownership to plex for that folder, subfolders, and files
Apply

Done…thanks @ChuckPA !

Quick question…what do you know about Tautulli. Do you use it? If yes can it be installed on the NAS, as a web app?

  1. Nothing
  2. Don’t use it.
  3. What I’ve seen it folks set it up in a Docker

I followed the instructions and Tautulli is now up and running! Thanks!

@SteveFP how did you get the Plex Media Server and Tautulli working on the same Synology Nas?
I have installed both on my Synology Nas and both seem to be running on the Nas box. However, I can access the PMS just by using url http://192.168.1.10:32400/web but cannot access Tautulli using the url http://192.168.1.10:8181/home. Tautulli was installed in a Docker container.

Can you please advise?

This post I made a while ago might help:

@blim5001 Thanks a bunch. I recreated the docker container with the network setting as suggested and it has worked a treat. Much appreciate you help with this issue. :+1:
