After upgrading GeForce Experience to 7.0.1, hw transcoding doesn‘t work. I am running the latest version of PMS (1.13.2).
Sometimes it works in the beginning, but switches to sw transcoding after a few minutes. I tried it with Plex Web (Chrome) and iOS. Same result.
Anybody else have similar problems?

HW transcoding will depend on several factors, a lot having to do with the codec(s) in which the media was encoded in.
See the link below in the second paragraph describes it all for the Nvidia Shield.
Mine definitely uses MPEG2, it’s DVR’ed from an HD HomeRun Prime. It worked beautifully for the past year, but since around May it’s been finicky. It’s fine with Android, just not iOS (what I use)

HW decoding works for the first few minutes, but then it will fall back to software transcoding.

I don’t think it has something to do with the codec. Nvidia Shield should be able to decode 10bit HEVC files without any problems.

I’m having a hardware transcoding problem with my shield too. Will post back once I learn anything new.
