PMS inexplicably started crashing for no reason. Tried to reinstall to no avail

PLEASE HELP! For some reason, my PMS crashed recently (not sure exactly when) but now if I launch it, it instantly crashes. I was running the x32 version, so I updated to x64 (which uninstalled the x32 as part of the process) but the behavior is the same. I’m at a complete loss. I had to resort to manually gathering the logs and .DMP files and attached. Hoping someone has some insight soon.

Update: Just tried the process of restoring a few of the old database backups per another post in the forum, but it doesn’t have any effect.
TIA!
M

Server Version#: 1.32.4.7164-1dc22f47b
Player Version#: 4.108.0
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
Note: Because PMS won’t launch and crashes, I am not sure if debug logging is enabled or not.

If I start it, it crashes immediately. The icon remains in the system tray, but as soon as you hover over it, it disappears.

Your logs are almost empty

I would try to restore a backup following these steps

https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

@JaysPlex7 Thanks for the thought. I just tried that, but no dice.

I’d excluded a bunch of older logs from the folder. However, I just looked at the server log and you’re right! WTH?! I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t understand why that log is that empty. Does it reset when switching between x32->x64?

I recently was attempting to install an app that crashed during the Microsoft VC redistributable installation, and never recovered and didn’t back out it’s changes. Do you think that may have corrupted the one used by PMS? I noticed that there were dd_vcredist_86 installer log files. I wonder if I can repair that somehow?

TIA!

What exactly causes database corruption is somewhat vague. In a lot of cases it’s power related so I don’t know.

There are ways to try and repair it. You can take a look at this link
https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/

There is also a repair tool but I haven’t looked into how to actually use it

If you need help with it, you can ping ChuckPa

Thanks, but after spending many hours on this mess, I just restored from a recent backup and all is well with the world. Thanks for the link to the utility, I will definitely keep it in mind for the future!
