PMS is not visible after claiming the server

Hi all,

Hopefully someone has heard of this or can assist by pointing me in the right direction.

TL;DR: A fresh install of PMS disappears from the GUI when I claim the server.

Information–
Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#: N/A
OS: Windows 2016

Back Story–
This OS had PMS installed at least a couple months ago. I won’t get into the details of why, but I’m now wanting to install PMS onto the physical server again.

The Problem–
I started configuring the new server (I am not moving the /appdata/local/plex media server files) and it prompts me to claim the server, which I do. When I click the claim button it tells me that I don’t have access to the server, even when I am using 127.0.0.1:32400. The server shows up in the Authorized Devices as a plex media server, I can browse to myserver.mydomain.com:32400, plex.tv/web, and 127.0.0.1:32400, but it will not show this device in the drop down list.
However when I use 127.0.0.1:32400 and wait to claim it, it shows up in the drop down list.

The Error–
I receive this error once I click claim…
“No soup for you! You do not have access to this server”

I’ve looked through the logs briefly, checked the connections to this machine (netstat -b) thinking someone else claimed it, attempted a clean install/reinstall and repair several times with no luck. I left pms running overnight thinking that maybe it was updating or something, but I’ve never seen this problem.
Note: I didn’t even get to the point of adding the libraries so we know it’s not scanning/matching media.

Once I get over my frustration, I am going to trail the logs and try this again to see if there is possibly an error that I am missing when the claim button is clicked. But, if anyone has any ideas or advice for this problem then please do throw it out there-- anything helps.

I’m having the same problem. If I sign out so the server is “unclaimed” it works on my Roku. However, then my smart TV can’t see PMS. I’ve uninstalled several times. Any ideas?

Fixed.

mbohl-- Try going through to make sure all residual files +registry entries from plex are removed from the machine (reboot the machine after removing and before install). Mine prompted me this time around with setting up a new device after I had logged in to the web gui on the machine in question. Do not manually open the browser as it should open automatically after the installation. If it doesn’t prompt you to set up the new machine with giving it a name, adding libraries, etc. then I’d recommend taking a step back and taking your time with the installation.
There may be something off with the clicking the claim button in the server settings -> general menu. I was unable to find out what the problem was though.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try. Appreciate the suggestions.
