Recently noticed Plex Dashboard, Tautulli and others reporting that HDR and DV content are being direct played to setups they shouldn’t be.
IE:
- Nvidia Shield Pro, with HDR/DV passthrough setting off. With an AVR and TV that do not support it.
- Google Chrome Cast set to SDR with HDR and DV off.
- Web Player on a Win11 machine with HDR support but not enabled.
Not any of the dashboards are reporting transcoding or converting. The RTX 2070 that is set to handle transcoding is reporting an idle status, and I’m not even seeing any increased usage on the CPU.
However, it does actually look like it is tone mapping, as colours look as expected? Idk hard to tell as I main an actual HDR/DV setup, but colours do not look washed out, maybe just a tad bit darker than normal. Has there been any changes to tone Mapping that I’m not aware off? Or is something broken?

UPDATE: Solved, just had to disable HDR tonemapping in transcoder setting then re-enable. Imgur: The magic of the Internet
