Has anyone tried this yet? Any guides? I believe ClearLinux is RPM based but uses a different delivery system.
I do not believe it has been tried and reported.
You’ll have to determine whether redhat (RPM) or debian (DEB) based. Once you have that information, you can download the appropriate package and give it a shot. Linux is fundamentally Linux.
One requirement is the SystemD service controlling program (process 1) is in use. The older style System V (SYSV) init scripts aren’t supported for mainstream
Worth a try. I think ClearLinux integrates Docker so that might be an option too. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
If ClearLinux supports docker, you stand a much better chance. The docker container is actually ubuntu inside. Not ideal, but a good first step
Oh alright - didn’t know that’s how it worked. I’d probably prefer just installing the RPM which should work and leave it running native on the hardware (don’t actually have it yet).
I really like the idea of clearlinux and have been wanting to give it a shot. I like that you can run
sudo rm -rf /etc /var for a factory reset.

And/or I think better yet only clear the content that you want reset. Like you could leave /etc/fstab & /var/plex potentially.
Clear Linux uses flatpak packages.
I’ve requested that add a flatpak package:
Possibly contribute thread and Plex will create one?
I would also like to see a Flatpack package for Plex.
I have moved the other thread to feature requests so it will tally votes.
If/when there is sufficient merit to support other distributions, and Engineering approves, it could be added.
For now, you always have the official Docker container.
Please do keep me advised of the progress using the current RPM distribution because I am completely rewriting the RPM installer now. It will be easier to add additional distributions when so approved
A Flatpak install seems like a great fit for Plex. Simply because it’s one installer that will work on many distros. Less to maintain?
