PMS on Mac Stops Responding After a Few Days

A couple months ago I migrated my PMS from a 2012 iMac to a Mac mini, and while the content and agents and metadata and settings all made it over fine, I am now having an issue where my server stops responding after a few days. I have not been able to track down exactly how long the cycle lasts before it is unresponsive, but it is anywhere from 1 to 3 days.

To be clear, when I say “not responding”, I mean on any client, any device, even down to the Mac mini where the media server is running and trying to access through 127.0.0.1. The Plex logo is displayed in the menu bar, and when I click “Open Plex…”, Safari launches, tries to navigate to 127.0.0.1:32400, but it never resolves.

The only solution I have found is to restart the server by quitting from the menu bar icon, or by force quitting the app.

Another note is that this does not seem to coincide with media transcodes, as this issue happens even when there hasn’t been anyone accessing the server for several days at a time.

I have searched for other posts with this issue, and it has come up in the past on older builds, but it doesn’t seem to be noted for this most recent build, so I figured it was okay to open a new topic.

Here’s another log zip that I downloaded when the Plex Media Server process was showing as “Not Responding” in Activity Monitor. When looking at the dashboard on the web interface, Plex was analyzing music in one of my music libraries for Sonic Analysis, and it had been analyzing the same track/file for the past several days.

And another log after another hang/crash. PMS was showing as Not Responding in Activity Monitor. There were also several Plex Relay processes listed, but the only one that was not responding was PMS.

Here’s another log. This time, none of the processes were reporting issues in Activity Monitor. The server was simply inaccessible both from a client app, and from the web browser on the machine running the server trying to navigate to local host 127.0.0.1.
