This has been a bug for as long as I can remember:
When looking at the list of authorized devices in Plex Web, only devices logged in as the main user (home admin) show the current version. Devices logged in as a different managed user show the version updated to the last time the home admin logged in.
For example, my SHIELD (always logged in as the main user) shows 8.30.0.30648, while my Sony TV (logged in as a managed user) shows 8.28.0.29997, even though it has been updated multiple times since, and is currently also at 8.30.0.30648. Once I log into the Sony as the main user, Plex Web will then show the current version.
I only have Android devices, so I can’t be sure if this also affects other brands.
The way I understand it, this is basically by design.
While watching the list of (your) authorized devices, Plex shows them as they were last used by yourself.
I see your point and consider it might be nice to know the latest version of all of them – then again… not sure that’s a key use case for many.
Thanks Tom. I just feel that managed users are still part of the admin account and should therefore reflect the most up-to-date software version. This is my OCD talking, of course
