PMS & ProtonVPN

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476
Player Version#: NA

I have started using ProtonVPN on my desktop computer as a measure of internet security (it encrypts internet traffic). This is the same computer that runs my PMS. I have found that when the VPN is running, two aspects of PMS stop working: 1) When I try to open any page under SETTINGS, it says “server settings are unavailable”, and 2) When I add a new episode to my library, the metadata agents fail to load. The VPN does allow split tunneling where I can make exceptions for apps and IP addresses. I have added PMS.exe and 127.0.0.1 and 54.246.140.185 (plex.tv), and the problem still persists. Even when I disconnect the VPN, these problems persist. It’s only when I reboot my computer with the VPN completely disabled that Plex works properly again. I know this is a long shot, but can anyone think of another IP address, or another EXE that PMS uses that wouldn’t work right over an encrypted VPN?

Maybe this part of this post:?

route plex.tv 255.255.255.255 <your router IP address>

This above section will allow traffic from the plex.tv domain to pass through your VPN and directly to your router. You can add other domains here as well if you want them to bypass the VPN entirely. I add certain websites and mail servers to mine as well so I don’t have to turn off my VPN or cycle the connection to access certain things or to send e-mail. A lot of sites/services block PIA addresses.
