PMS randomly watched programmes

The other day, something weird happened.

I was accessing PMS via the web interface when I noticed on the home page that without my doing many programmes suddenly appeared in the “Continue Watching” space. I can’t remember how many appeared but there were at least 10 programmes. I went through them and marked them as “Unwatched” which removed them from the “Continue Watching”; shortly after that, the same happened again and I marked them “unwatched” again.

I thought this was the end of it, however, today I realised that many episodes of many seasons had disappeared.

I can only assume that PMS somehow continued “watching” my programmes and as I have the “delete watched programmes after a day” option set it then removed them from my library. I lost about 35 individual programmes.

To be on the safe side I have now disabled the function to empty the trash automatically after every scan. That way, if PMS watches and therefore deletes programmes again, I should be able to restore from the trash.

Really there is an option to delete watched programmes after a day?

Oh wait is that something in dvr maybe?
I certainly haven’t seen such an option anywhere else.

@Xhaka

Yeah - the option is there but only appears for programmes with multiple episodes:

When you setup a recording you have to go into advanced options to see it.

Disable the DLNA portion of Plex Server.
Settings - Server - DLNA
Afterwards, restart Plex server.

I have a hunch it is a device on your local network (a tv or similar, which tried to build a ‘library’ for itself by playing any file and extracting still photographs from it.)

@OttoKerner

Thanks - I have disabled DLNA. Have to wait with the restart though as I’m currently recording …

I’ve rebooted my Mac mini, which is hosting my PMS, this morning. I’ll monitor what happens …
