PMS server not available through browser

Hello,

It has been months since I used my plex media server (which has been running for years), but I upgraded my OS, re-installed the “.deb” file, and rebooted the server.

When logging in from http://app.plex.tv/desktop, clicking on “your media” tells me that I have to install a PMS (which is already installed). When accessing the PMS directly through ssh tunnel (localhost:8888) or even on the local server (localhost:32400), I just get this xml file:

The strange thing is that I can access my media library through roku and android apps, but not through a browser running on the same machine as the server software. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Server Version#: Debian1.27.0.5878
Player Version#:

Ensure you include “/web” at the tail of your URLs:

http://localhost:32400/web

It sound like the server is not currently linked to your account.
So in order to access it through the hosted web app, you need to first link it to your account.

It seems like you tried to do the right thing by accessing the server locally but missed the /web in the URL (e.g. http://localhost:32400/web or http://localhost:8888/web if you’re connected to the machine through SSH tunnel).

Thanks to @pshanew and @tom80H…I left off the “web” part and my credentials on the server had expired.

I still don’t understand why my phone could access my media server, though. Anyways, thanks again.

You’re welcome, glad it worked.

You might have previously disabled the need for authentication on your local network. It does what it says, resulting in clients being able to access your server directly. (under some circumstances)
