Server Version#: 1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8
Player Version#: 1.8.0.148-573b6d73
PLEX server is on Linux and all appears to be working fine. Libraries are showing with movies, and TV shows. In the device list, the Rasplex (Raspberry Pi) and Galaxy S6 show up, which are the two players I have tried. The Android player I just tried after the Rasplex wouldn’t work. Rasplex only shows “Watch Later” and “Search” in the menu. No error messages are displayed.
Both the server and the Rasplex are on the local network in the 192.168.10.xxx range and both are indicating internet access. I have tried DHCP on Rasplex as well as static IP. The server IP has also been specified on the Rasplex player. I presume the problem is with the server, as neither the Raspberry Pi or the Android player could display anything from the server.
I see this topic has been addressed in past posts but nothing recently. Tried the suggestions on those posts but nothing working yet.
Sorry for the late response, I have totally overlooked your post Let’s just ignore Rasplex for now. As far as I know its official development was stalled in 2017.
However, you are also unable to watch any media on the official client on your Samsung S6? Please post the server logs.
Yes - I've concluded that the problem is with the server because two clients don't seem to be seeing the library even though they both show up in the device list on the server. Even though Rasplex might not be supported anymore, if I can sort out any issues with the server then hopefully I can get it running on Rasplex anyway.
I just tried running the player from the Samsung S6 again and all I get is Recommended (Podcasts). Please see the attached log file.
(1) Disable Verbose logging.
(2) The network is not available when PMS starts. Do you use Wi-Fi? Don’t. And please manually restart PMS when the network becomes available: sudo systemctl restart plexmediaserver.
(3) PMS was not allowed to read the media files on sdb1. Have you already fixed this? If not, please make sure Linux user plex has at least read access and the drive is available.
