Server Version#: 1.24.2.4973
Player Version#: On any player (But i’m using Plex Media Player V4.29.2)
Hello. My issue is pretty much described in this link.
TLDR, my server really struggling with playing content while i’m scanning for new content.
Example: I did “Scan Library Files” and after then i wanted to play some content from same library (actually, any library. It doesn’t matter from which libabry i want to play content, it simply affects every library). I prefer music content so i click on play button on song i want to play but the bottom player UI (with Play/Pause, Lyrics etc. buttons) still loads, even 30+ seconds and then, it loads that UI or throw error “An error occured loading items to play”.
At first, i ran PMS on Raspberry Pi clone and worked like a charm without issue i’m describing here. Then i wanted upgrade for better CPU and storage so i bought HP ProDesk 400 G4, with Intel Core i5 8500T and this NVME SSD in it. Installed Ubuntu 20.04 and from this point i noticed issue i’m describing. I’m running same config for Rclone as i did on Raspberry Pi. Things which changed are: Versions of PMS and Rclone (due to updating), size of database (due to fact i’m adding content nearly every day) and also adding content to Google Drive.
Info about my setup:
PMS is accessing data from encrypted Google Drive which is decrypted locally by Rclone. In link i mentioned above, one of the main maintainers and admins of Rclone forum said that Rclone on my machine doesn’t complain about anything. Surely, there’s space for improvements in script which i will also try.
What i did:
- I tried to look for logs and spotted there things like “Waited one whole second for busy database” or “Held transaction for too long”.
- I tried to set up new server, this time in docker with docker compose but same thing, even with purely new database and content.
What i’m going to try:
- Set up Proxmox, deploy VM with different OS’s and see if it is not caused by OS.
- Edit Rclone startup command (which is very unlikely to help as i ran same startup command on old setup)
My guess:
- I think it will be in version of PMS or Rclone. Or even distribution as i had weird issue with Rclone when i installed it via apt install and not from downloaded tar.gz.
- Somehow damaged SSD (i’ll do speed tests later)
If you have any guesses, ideas to fixs or simply want me to provide logs, just write a comment.
