PMS suddenly not working on Drobo; no (known) changes to environment

Similar to other reports of PMS stopping working. Environment is a Drobo 5N w/5, 5TB drives. Approx 8.9TB remains free. Drobo firmware and Dashboard are all up to date and no ‘problems’ to speak of in 8 years of service. Status and dashboard all read as “green” (good). Lifetime Plexpass member credential - been using successfully for at least 6 years. Made last PMS upgrade (to 1.21.1.3795) early January - all worked well. NO RECENT CHANGES TO OPERATING ENVIRONMENT or ecology. PMS just suddenly (inexplicably) stopped working on 1-29-21. I can mount the NAS, see shared folders, write to/ from. Plex App (on NAS) reads ‘not running.’ Clicking green arrow (start) has NO effect. Settings menu tries to open in Browser, but reports page ‘cannot be found.’ Launching Plex (on late model LG television) goes to PMS environment but ONLY web-based content is available; it cannot find local libraries. Downgraded PMS from 1.21 to 1.18 and restarted = no change.

I say: this is NOT a new install, there have been no changes immediately preceding malfunction, and I’m pretty familiar with PMS.

Any suggestions/ hints/ solutions would be appreciated…
