First off I apologize If I have placed this topic in the wrong forum /sub forum.
I am using the latest version of PMS. 1.18.4.2171-ac2afe5f8
My DMS is at 6.2.
My GF and I are sharing a plex pass account in the following manner: I created an admin then a few managed users. One for her and one for the kids. Three accounts total.
My account has access to everything, - Shares A, B, and C. She has access to B and C. Kids have access to C only.
I invited them both. They made plex accounts and accepted the invitation. All seemed fine.
Here is the problem. They both signed into their android apps with their respective accounts, and I signed in on my iOS device with my account (admin account). All other accounts now populate on everyone’s sign in screen! I can see their accounts as well and they can see mine. None of us are forced to sign in with a password to use the other peoples accounts! I really need to restrict content but Plex doesn’t seem to have this security measure in place and I hope I am very wrong in this. The accounts themselves are limited by the shares they have access to, as described above, but all they have to do is switch users and click on the other user and now have access to shares they normally wouldn’t. Is there anyway to force users to sign in with a password? These are managed accounts that had to sign up to plex.tv, not the “home” accounts that require PINS.
If they created accounts and can sign in with their accounts, then they are not managed users. A managed user is a specific sub-account under your admin and do not have the ability to sign in. These are just regular Plex account.
This would indicate that all of your are part of Plex Home. There are 2 ways to invite users. Plex Home and regular. With Plex Home, you can switch easily from 1 user to the other so all accounts are listed and can be accessed. If you don’t want this, as the admin, remove the users from Plex Home, they will revert back to a regular share.
Thank you for the reply. I see I can make users one of two ways. “Invite Home User” this will allow them to easily switch to my admin account and make any changes they wish, with out a password
and
“create managed user”
they will not be able to access the content outside of the home.
is there any other way to create users?
my goal is this. To invite or create a user, who can access the media from the android and ios apps, inside the home and remotely, who can view the libraries I give them, and NOT be able to switch to other accounts nor my admin account without some sort of security i.e a password.
