I’m not sure how PMS DVR chooses which tuner it will use, but I have multiple tuner cards and a HD HomeRun Prime with a cable card. The tuner cards can not get every station (only about 170, but I deselect the SD channels where there is an HD or Digital channel also) compared to the 350 or so with the HD HomeRun Prime (again I deselect the SD channels where there is an HD or Digital channel also).
Unless PMS has the ability to deconflict by choosing tuners based on overlaping recordings and which tuners are available, I’d like to be able to control the order of which tuner is used by default and have it use one of the tuner cards (if not busy and supports the channel) rather than the HD HomeRun Prime so that the HD HomeRun Prime is available if a recording needs the cable card for the channel. By setting an order and have PMS check if it is available and supports the channel, else move on to the next it should ensure that as many shows as possible will record. The HD HomeRun Prime only has 3 tuners (I have not replaced it with a 6 tuner version yet but I’m considering it) compared to the 6 tuners on the Hauppauge cards which can cover 95% of the shows I record.
