I record the PBS Newshour every night. I noticed this week it stopped recording, although it can be watched if I tune in when it airs. I’ve checked to make sure the recording is still scheduled, and it is, but it does not show it in DVR Schedule. And it does not record it.
I’ve cancelled the recording and rescheduled it. I’ve started and stopped the Plex Server as well as Chrome. Nothing seems to change the fact that even though it’s scheduled, it doesn’t record and doesn’t show up in in DVR Recordings. This has been working perfectly for the last year, and suddenly what I described above began. Other programs are recording normally and display correctly in DVR Schedule. There is plenty of room on the drive where recordings are stored.
For the record, I’m on a late-model iMac running Catalina 10.15.2.
I think I know why this is broken. The “New” label is missing in the Guide for the PBS Newshour. Since I only record original airings and not repeats, the program fails to record. If I record “All episodes”, everything falls back into place.
Any idea how I can report this error in order to get it fixed? I notice that the following week the
“New” label is once again on the guide, so this is obviously an error.
I am having a very similar issue. For over a year I’ve had my Plex DVR set to record “The Love Boat” on Sunday night. Recently, the DVR shows “No Upcoming Airings” even though the show is there in the guide. I’ve tried removing the recording and trying to set it to “Record this episode”, but even then when I check it still says “No Upcoming Airings.”
Although very frustrating, I went through and tried ALL of the options - as the show is not in HD I was looking for the “Any” setting in the resolution, but I only see “Prefer HD” and “HD Only”. Obviously it’s not HD so I tried “Prefer HD” and it still says “no upcoming airings”.
As you mentioned in your situation - this WAS working fine for about a year.
If you already have the episode recorded, it won’t record again. Keep in mind the guide provider changed so season/episode information could have been incorrect for a short time leading to mislabeled files.
Delete the recording and re-add it, if it still shows no upcoming airings you will have to look deeper.
I just added it, since I have no previous episodes it will record.
I’ve had the exact same problem with the PBS Newshour. After recording successfully for over a year, it just stopped.
Look carefully at the Guide to see if the word “New” is missing from the broadcast. That was my problem, and as soon as the Guide started to identify the broadcasts correctly, the problem was solved. I’m not sure where Plex gets their info for the Guide, but apparently you are suffering from the same problem of new airings not being identified correctly.
Good suggestions both. However, I tried deleting and trying again without success. I’ve got it set to record new and repeat episodes, and in general, the episodes aired are not in my collection as you can’t get them on DVD yet (they only have through season 3). That said, I DID notice that the episode showing as “no upcoming airings” IS one that I already had. However, the one that did not record last Sunday was not in my collection. I guess I’ll wait a couple of weeks and make sure the upcoming episode is not already recorded and verify if that is the issue.
