DVR suddenly stopped scheduling local programs

A couple of days ago, my PLEX server stopped recording the program listed below. It still shows up in the guide and the guide shows that it’s scheduled for recording but the DVR schedule does not show it listed and the Recording Priority says “No upcoming airings”. I tried deleting the recording and then adding a new recording but it still does not get added to the DVR schedule.

Server Version#: 1.32.0.6918
Player Version#: Any
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun FLEX 4K
Guide/Lineup name: Local Broadcast Listings (76 channels)
Using XMLTV?: I don’t know what that is.
Channel number/Name: 5.1 KSDKDT St. Louis region / 5 on Your Side at 10 PM

Exact same issue here. Started a couple days ago. Local News station that I’ve recording for almost a year now. Shows that it’s scheduled to record in the guide, dvr priority list shows “no upcoming episodes”. It’s been a week or so since the last update, so I don’t think it was an update that caused it.

Same issue here in Las Vegas. All my local news drops off.
I am running WD Mycloud EX2 with OS5 and USB WInTV Dual Tuner. Server Version#: 1.32.0.6918
Thanks for Posting. I attached two images. One with the local news, and the other dropped off the schedule. Server 1.31 it started, then updated to Server 1.32 and still no fix.

I assume if you look at the episode “date” it shows some date in the past. Plex isn’t respecting the new tag it seems on the metadata to record it. The only way I’ve found to solve it is to delete the episode and then it will get picked up (assuming you do it prior to the record time).

Same here. Began about a week ago for me. Installed latest 64bit version on Windows, but still a problem.

However, it’s probably good since the “news” is always ridiculously bad: gawking crime and bad behavior and invented “controversy” spliced by weather (which takes 2 seconds on an app), and an unimportant self-sacrifice “feel good” story at the end to make up for the soul-sucking content they present as “what’s going on.” No wonder there’s a supposed mental-health crisis. [“news” has been this way for centuries, probably longer]

I have the same in the UK, Sky News (CH233) and BBC1 Breakfast News (CH001) on Freeview.

Both recording schedules had “Keep Latest Episode” in the advance options set, all my other recordings are set to “Keep All Episodes”

If I set or toggle this setting to “Keep All Episodes” they reappear in the recording schedule calendar.

Same issue for me as well! Very frustrating! For me it stopped working Friday morning April 7th. And not just the news is failing to record, a bunch of other shows stopped working as well, but not every show stopped. And one show with the keep one episode still working for no reason.

The DVR function is really goofed up now!

This is not tied to a server version update as the prior version was running for a couple of weeks. I also upgraded to the latest in hopes it would fix the issue.

Maybe our plex hero @ChuckPa can help?

Same problem for me. Other programs record normally but there are several won’t record either as a scheduled DVR recording in the future but even live.

Future recordings just say ‘No upcoming airings’ and live programs that I hit record on just don’t record.

This happens with local news programs and also others like 48 Hours, Dateline, 60 Minutes etc.

This new problem started Friday the 7th.

Anyone know which logs to check? I don’t find anything in any log files when I search through the gazillions of log files using the names of any of the programs that won’t record.

This problem, combined with all the other problems with live tv and DVR functions make me wonder if Plex has any clue at all on how to implement even the most basic DVR setup. One more push for me to go back to Channels DVR - it runs circles around Plex for live TV and DVR functions.

I found a temporary solution in other threads. Delete the complete show folder where you store your recordings for the ones that show “no upcoming episodes” so Plex will recreate it. Also noted that the episode data, time, date, etc. were missing from the video file. Note sure if this is the problem or not. Tried entering the data manually in the file name. That didn’t seem to work either. I also manually edited the correct date in the “General tab”. All mine are showing the date 12-31-1969. This is only a temporary fix, as soon as it records again the priority view will once again show “no upcoming episodes”. Hope Plex fixes this bug soon!

This is working for me. Once I deleted these shows from my news folder the new episodes started showing up in the schedule again. Thanks so much.

Thanks - it looks like the new recordings I set as tests yesterday are each going to record once even though they should record every day. Same problem I guess.

It appears that some work normally.

Strangeness… Hopefully someone at Plex is working on it - my wife is telling me just to go back to Channels. She’s tired of Plex being flakey and even more tired of me whining about it!

After deleting the shows from my news folder my DVR schedule shows all the shows to be scheduled going forward. I’ll see in the next couple days if it stops working after one show or not. My problem shows were 60 minutes, Early Today, CBS Morning News, America This Morning and all the local ABC and Fox news in the Dallas area. I also noticed that the news shows that kept recording with no problem have now stopped deleting old episodes per the advanced settings. Maybe I will have to delete those shows from my folder and re-add them also. Others have said reverting to previous server versions like 1.31.1.6733 or 1.31.3.6868 have fixed the problem.

It’s strange, the problem started days after the last PMS update I received. I thought maybe at first the issue may have been the fact that the News shows I record don’t have a season or episode number. But The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon does use them, and it’s not working either. Go figure!

I have the same issue - seems to only affect news programs mostly (Daily news, weekly news, etc). Deleting the most recent recording will then allow it to record the next program. If a recorded program exists, it will not record the next scheduled program, no matter if new or repeat airings is selected.

Plex - please fix!

I have the same issue , what did you do to resolve it ? Delete all episodes?

What did you delete to get it to work , saved episodes?

Yes. After removing all eposodes, go to the show recording settings for the show and hit save (no need to chamge any settings). Next recording then shows and is scheduled.

In my limited experience “go to the show recording settings for the show and hit save” was unnecessary for the workaround, only deleting all episodes.

So does Plex monitor these posts for support? I never seen a glitch last so long without an udpate

I thought they monitored, disappointed to see nothing from them yet.
