I’ve seen many threads complaining about podcast being broken but they’re usually completly ignored. So I’ll just add mine in hope that it will change something.
Before we go, I’m gonna describe my usual podcast listening experience involding the android player. And I already added an exception in the battery saving feature for plex
Whenever I pause a podcast (2/4 hours ones long usually), put the plex app back in the background, lock my phone away for a random time (sometimes seconds, sometimes hours) and pick it back up, it can end up in multiple ways :
1/ the plex widget is missing from the lockscreen => this usually mean that the plex app got killed somehow and when I’ll reopen it I’ll have my podcast progress “correctly saved” in the minimized player. But as soon as I tap the play button or maximize the player, boom it starts back from zero
2/ Same situation but maximizing the player I can see the progress is still correct, press play ? boom we’re back to zero
3/ the widget time is correct, the minimized player time is correct, the maximized time is correct and pressing the play button don’t restart it to zero BUT the podcast is completly silent… In those case either pressing pause and play again fix the issue, or nothing will and I’ll have to close the podcast player and reopen it.
4/ Also sometimes it works just fine … Sometimes …
The usual fix people recommend is … Don’t use plex for podcast … So is there another way ? Is this bug being totally ignored because it’s been a low priority one for at least a year by now ? Need more logs ? Which logs do you need ?
