I don’t know how quite to label this but it’s been frustrating and happening since release of the new Android UI. I’ve done all the app and server updates and it’s been a bug for minimum 6 months.
I have a library for audiobooks. Issue #1: sometimes plex does not resume where I left off. Other times it does. Sometimes it’s to do with a temporary network interruption (EG: switching cell towers, in/out of elevator), then when plex reconnects it wipes its resume point and starts from the beginning. Because of this any time I stop listening I keep a log in my nextcloud notes of where I was, pretty frustrating.
Issue #2: If Android decides to sleep or close plex, and I had an audiobook paused (I believe this also applies to all media types) and I have the little minimized player across the bottom, and I click play from there to resume where I left off, it always starts from the beginning. The only exception to this is if I connect to my car’s bluetooth and the app hasn’t been put to sleep, then my car just starts playing from where I left off. If you don’t tap play, but instead tap the bar to “maximize” the player and click play, same result
Ultimately the new UI has been incredibly frustrating to work with due to the amount of bugs, my complete lack of confidence in the stability, and that it takes a zillion taps to get anything done VS the old one. I’d suffer with the poor design in a heartbeat if the bugs could be sorted out though.
