I don’t think this should be difficult to get done. I think other users can agree that even adding to the queue only the episode you clicked or tapped on would be enough (instead of the current adding of all episodes even if already played).
Also in the browser I am able to create a queue from the “On Deck”. That option is not available in iOS. That must be a low hanging fruit.
Yeah this is still annoying. On iOS I can now at least add my podcast episode then clear out the play queue. Then I’m able to add individual episodes to the queue after that.
Still an extra step and the queue logic still needs to be fixed but least I can manually clear the queue when starting an episode. At one point even that was broken.
Another thing I’ve noticed is Plex sometimes won’t detect new episodes for a show when I know they exist. For news podcasts this is annoying. When it happens I have to go to a different podcast app to listen, which is a shame. Then a day or two later Plex will “catch up”. It’s not all the time but occasionally.
I really love having Plex as my “everything” app. So if they can iron out these couple things it’ll be gold.
Yeah, this is also my current workaround but I’m slowly getting tired of it and thinking about migrating back to some separate podcast application, which really is a shame because I also enjoy having Plex as my “everything” app, as you mentioned. And don’t forget we even paid for it!
The fact that queues are not shared between devices or can’t be saved as playlists doesn’t help either.
It seems in general that there has not been much attention given to the differences between how users like to listen to podcasts compared to other media (such as music). With a podcast, whether a file has been played is much more relevant. Typically you only want to listen to episodes that you’ve not already listened to and to move forward in time. Autoplay or queue behaviour should reflect this or at least have settings that support this without workarounds.
