POLL: are you satisfied with the Plex Xbox One app?

I've seen a host of new threads regarding the Xbox One Plex app since it hit a couple of weeks ago.  Many people are reporting bugs and issues (some showstoppers), but many are also reporting a pleasant experience.  As I'm on a 360 (and patiently waiting... and waiting... and waiting... :D) for the 360 Plex app, I was curious as to the ratio of satisfied versus unsatisfied in the one thread.

Feel free to chime in below SATISFIED or UNSATISFIED and comment on your experience!

Cheers

Why not create an actual poll? Anyway, I'm satisfied with the app so far, it's been working quite well with only a few hiccups. It has things that obviously need to be implemented yet, but Plex has stated they are working on those.

Are you satisfied with the Plex Xbox One app?

Yup.

I am satisfied. Have wishes but I am satisfied non the less.

it's difficult to give a proper answer at this stage.  it is after all an early pre general release version that is rough around the edges.  from what I have seen so far i think its fantastic and look forward to the app gaining feature parity with the more mature versions on other platforms.

What it currently does it does well.

This I can say.

(execpt the bug that not all On Deck Items show ...)

But of course I would like more funtions :-)

unsatisfied - I need support for channels. For someone who didn't previously partake in the Plex community like myself, I feel like I got shafted. I started using Plex exclusively for channel functionality on xbox one and bought a plex pass to use it... this is now wasted money to me. It should have been advertised better that it wasn't fully featured in the xbox one store, as well as on the Plex page that was advertising it's availability. It shouldn't be on the onus of the consumer to dig on message boards to figure out many features are missing.

I am satisfied knowing there are major pieces missing from the overall experience (filters). That being said, it’s going to probably get tossed to the wayside for an Android TV as my wife refuses to try to use the XBox and keeps using the FireTV app instead.

Plus, multiple TVs, I would personally prefer a single uniform method (2 Apple TVs, 2 Fire TVs etc) instead of two different approaches.

The Xbox one experience is pretty but clunky, and I use my wife as the perfect source since UI functionality is a must, and she doesn’t like it.

Edit: I just did; thanks!  Didn't even realize I had the option.  :)

Why not create an actual poll?

Overall, I am very satisfied with the app!

As I've posted before, most of my recommendations are basic ones that are probably already being worked on. Obviously I'd like to see my other libraries (music), access my channels, and view extras / trailers, One Guide integration, and tv theme songs. As far as actual new features go; I really like the options menu on movies that gives options like "More by *Sam Raimi*" or "More with *Ben Affleck*" but I wish I could filter my library by actor/director and not have to find a movie I know someone's a part of and go through the sub menu. On that note, it would be nice to have instead of just "Browse" as an option, for it to say "Browse by" and then give the option to select by Date added, Resolution, Actor, etc. Also, voice as an input could change the way I use Plex, as Kinect is awesome. Some voice input ideas that Tyson had teased that I was most excited for: "Xbox, Turn on subtitles." "Xbox, Change the language to French." "Xbox, Go to the start of the movie." "Xbox, Go to the start of this chapter." "Xbox, Go back 30 seconds." Lastly, I really like the "Top movies by ..." and "Top movies in *genre*" sections on the dash, but it would be really neat if there was a drop down menu with it that let me pick the particular genre/actor/director and have it show me the top movies in that category (based on Rotten Tomato score maybe?)

Again, I am very satisfied with the app as it stands. I have experienced minimal bugs, with none of them ever crashing the app. Any news on when the first update may drop?

I am satisfied with the app because I knew what to expect and understood that this first release would be a "preview." I imagine the next few releases(official) will fix bugs and extend the feature set, so I am excited to see what's next.

The people who are complaining about it, i.e. the unsatisfied ones, expected way more than what was promised so they are crying: false advertising, misleading, ripped off, etc etc. Reading comprehension is a big problem for many people it seems—and no, I am not talking about our international friends—so they take their frustrations out on the Plex team; it's a bit unfair that a person's own shortcomings, inabilities, and general ignorance gives way to unwarranted criticism.

Very satisfied overall!

A few improvements wished for me:

- more direct read and less transcoding (and I know it's coming :))

- show all "On deck" videos at the home screen. I think you see only a fixed number of them at the moment

- have the possibility to "jump" videos 30sec by 30sec (on not only fast forward as you have today)

and then I'll be completely happy :)

Pretty unsatisfied overall. I have tons of mkv files, which the official app won't play, but the Microsoft supplied Media Player will. The official Plex app seems half baked in a lot of way even compared to other platforms' Plex app... rating movies doesn't seem to work, there's no obvious way to jump to the middle of a movie, there's no client side settings for streaming options that I can find anywhere. Hopefully at some point it'll at least get to par with the Android app (which is quite good), because right now I always just end up using Microsoft's Media Player.

The best post I've read on this forum

The stuttering I'm having during playback of at least half my films, makes the app annoyingly useless :( fix this and I'll be very happy :)

That's hardly true, I have a genuine issue and I'm not the only one to have this issue either. Other than that I'm quite pleased with the app, and the other plex apps I use :)

This is great feedback everyone; keep the votes and comments coming!  Perhaps the Plex team can gain some useful insight from this thread.

I doubt it.

Its not like they didnt know about channels, filters missing, mkv's not direct playing, UI usability issues etc ...  :-)

IT was promised as a preview and thats what this is. People complaining about having issues mentioned above, just didnt read or comprehend the initial blog post.

 Disagree.

Nowhere on the homepage - where it is prominently displayed - does this say that it is a preview.  Click on the homepage product announcement page, and you're brought to the following: https://plex.tv/xbox - and nowhere does it mention that it is a preview.  Having to then navigate to an obscure "blog" link just to find the word "preview" referring the app would be disingenuous of the company.  Thankfully, that's not the case.

In fact, the only thing under "preview" is the Media Server release that's needed for the Xbox One Plex app to work!

So.. not sure why you would think that.  Additionally, poll numbers are a great way to get insight into your customer base.  Plex has a free customer focus group here at their disposal, something that many companies would pay for.

It was clearly stated to be a Plex pass members release, and yes for the in sides that is known to be a preview. But for people that came to plex because of the app it was not very clear.

But I think that all has been said.

It is what it is and now we wait for updates and be happy with every release that brings us new features
