I have absolutely zero issues myself. But then again I don't ever use subtitles or have any content with extreme bitrates. I also don't care about 5.1 sound as I have a sound bar that sounds fantastic and don't require 5.1. For those of you that require all of that I can see how you maybe frustrated at this point. But everything will improve as releases and time permits.
My media is transcoded from mkv to m4v and located in iTunes. At this time the aTV3 can play and handle my collection of media better in my experience. One media file has a total bit rate of 28926 kbps which the aTV3 can play with no problems but the xbox one with Plex combine with the Plex server stutters every five or so seconds.
Not satisfied. I think there is a lot of work to be done, not only to add all the other features, but to really nail the current video features, which seem to be shaky at best. Currentyl, the Media Player on Xbox works better and is more stable than the Plex app. However, this is not to say that it isn't a great start!
When I first installed xbox one plex app I had a host of issues but it seems over the last week most have been ironed out and I have it running almost 24/7 in the background for the last 4 days with no issues whatsoever.
It's been fantastic -- I'd love channel support, but what it does currently is just right on for my household's needs. It's replaced my Mac Mini as a player situation I've been running for year. I can finally delegate that to a dedicated server for PMS and all my other needs.
I really like it. My server pc is currently underpowered though (rectifying that soon) and there are certain things it stutters and pauses on, and I have to revert to PHT - I'm assuming this is transcoding issues.
Would be nice to know where we are at with a new version - adding in music support would be great, and it really really needs Plex Home support now. I know they insist on being more secretive than the CIA, but it wouldn't hurt to let us know if there's a new version submitted to MS for certification (if they're allowed to do that - sure I've seen other companies say similar in the past) - that wouldn't be giving anything away?
I am very satisfied, only a couple things bothering me that I would like worked out...
:: Embedded Subtitles
I am finding it hard to get this working. Usually when I am watching Anime. I will have to go back to the plex app on my tv for watching anime to get them to work properly which is a shame because I love the Xbox App. The only reason I use the Samsung App is for Anime.
:: 3D
Is there a way I have to name files for 3d to work? Or has this not been made possible yet?
I didn't know it was a "preview" or beta or whatever. I just downloaded it from the xbox one marketplace, only to discover I had to sign up for a "plex pass" to see if it works. I'm no long term plex user, although I've been aware of it for a long time.
Sadly it doesn't work. At all.
First it complained about the server version (which is 0.9.11.4.739-A4E710F according to https://plex.tv/servers).
Now it doesn't even try. Just a spinning orange circle forever.
The Android client works just fine.
It's a shame there is no trial period. I feel a bit ripped off. Thankfully I remembered to cancel the automatically renewing monthly subscription.
i'm generally satisfied with the Xbox one app. most of that satisfaction tends to come from a previous viewpoint that Plex on Xbox would be a pipe dream.
Satisfied, but would like to see things like acting as remote player, play queues and a HUD like in RarFlix to be implemented. COuldn't be happier with the playback, it's a lot smoother than on the 360 for some reason as it's not transcoding for me.
I am satisfied with the app because I knew what to expect and understood that this first release would be a "preview." I imagine the next few releases(official) will fix bugs and extend the feature set, so I am excited to see what's next.
The people who are complaining about it, i.e. the unsatisfied ones, expected way more than what was promised so they are crying: false advertising, misleading, ripped off, etc etc. Reading comprehension is a big problem for many people it seems—and no, I am not talking about our international friends—so they take their frustrations out on the Plex team; it's a bit unfair that a person's own shortcomings, inabilities, and general ignorance gives way to unwarranted criticism.
What an arrogant and elitist post. Please tell me where exactly I was supposed to demonstrate my "reading comprehension"? I don't recall reading that this was essentially a beta release that lacked many features on the Plex site landing page I arrived at when I did an internet search on "plex for xbox one". I also didn't see that advertised in the xbox one store when I downloaded the plex app. All that being the case, are you legitimately suggesting that I should have dived into the plex forums before purchase just to make sure I was not getting a beta product? Your an ass.
It's got some bugs but it's a good start and I'm looking forward to the first update. I find it an interesting insight into how these apps work, for example I have this conversation with my XBox:
Me: "XBox: Play"
XBox: "Can't 'Play'"
Me: "XBox: Select: Play"
XBox: "Duh, okay. Playing". :rolleyes:
When this has some of the rough edges knocked off it's going to be great.
If I could watch a full movie for more than around half an hour, without it suddenly freezing and needing me to back out and resume again to get it going, I would be satisfied.
