Player Version#:Apple TV (latest), and Web/Chrome
Hello there, I have a distributed Plex Server setup with a dedicated Plex Server and storage all hard wired on CAT6. All of my home theatre and browser setups are all wired on the same CAT6 network.
My Plex Server is a Core i7 6700K, 16GB of RAM, on SSD storage (500GB) with a 1050 Ti for Hardware Transcoding (Plex Pass purchased). All of the storage is on either a Windows server or a NAS with no speed issues.
When playing from my Apple TV’s they play Direct and they buffer after 30-120 seconds. Looking at the Plex server it is essentially idling, with minimal load / traffic. All 3 of my Apple TV’s in my home experience this. My chrome browser session oddly does not connect direct, but indirectly and transcodes, on the same file it experiences the same issue. This is a net new issue, and I do not believe filed related, as it didn’t do this prior to a new update of Plex.
So I have two questions
- File wise or what not, what is causing the buffering? This on files that worked 3 weeks ago is happening now (the buffering) and I cannot figure out why. These are all 1080P files, nothing 4K, so network congestion is super far from being a problem.
- Why is my Browser not directly connected when I am on the same subnet as the Plex server?
I can’t see this being my Plex server not having enough power, between that CPU, the 1050 Ti, and the Intel Video it should HW transcode for 15-20 sessions easily. Network is all dedicated CAT6 on extremely fast storage at 1Gbps for Plex, 2Gbps LACP connections for all of the storage.
I am assuming I have something set wrong, or something is just weird. Any help is massively appreciated - I am stumped. I reloaded Windows from scratch today and restored my Plex Server to try and fix this, to no avail.
