So I finally figured out what my rendering issue was with the N64 emulator and 32X. Due to using a Dell R720 server with Windows Server 2019 I also take advantage of having iDRAC. Due ti using iDRAC i have my KVM monitor hooked up to the on board GFX controller so i can see all of the startup processes on screen. I have my Nvidia GTX1050ti connected but running headless. works fine for transcoding films etc but seems it doesnt for games. I added the “Plex Game Transcoder.exe” file to Graphics Settings so I could force it to use the GTX1050 but it still had issues with rendering. Nvidia control panel would not launch as there was no monitor connected.
So to the fix… added a dummy HDMI adapter to the GTX1050 and I can now access Nvidia control panel and add apps to the 3D controls. This allows me to override 3D rendering settings and force GTX1050 to be used for the transcoder.exe file and specifiy OpenGL etc. Long story short the N64 emulator now performs much better.
Issue left though is that sound is still stuttery on N64 and occasionally on 32X emulators. does anyone have any ideas what this could be being caused by? I’m not sure if plex is trying to use the audio capabilities of the GTX1050ti or if it’s trying to use my Creative Labs sound card for the audio.
