Portrait mode videos playback as landscape 90 deg counter clockwise

Server Version#: 4.100.1
Player Version#: Roku: 7.1.1.8323-1967c5acb-Plex, Windows 10 Firefox, Plex for Android client

I can’t figure this one out. I have videos recorded from three different Google Pixel phones. The videos shot in landscape mode are fine but those shot in portrait mode are playing back rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise.

One thing about cell phone videos is that if you start recording in one mode and turn the phone while still recording, it won’t playback correctly. I had two videos like that and I imported them into a video editor to rotate them correctly. They are portrait mode now and look fine on Plex. So, comparing those two videos to all the others, here’s what I found using VLC’s codec information:

Correct portrait mode video:
Stream 1
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Language: English
Type: Video
Video resolution: 1920x1080
Buffer dimensions: 1920x1088
Frame rate: 29.952548
Decoded format:
Orientation: Left bottom
Color primaries: ITU-R BT.709
Color transfer function: ITU-R BT.709
Color space: ITU-R BT.709 Range
Chroma location: Left

Stream 0
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Language: English
Type: Audio
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bits per sample: 32

Incorrect portrait mode videos:
Stream 0
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Language: English
Type: Video
Video resolution: 1920x1080
Buffer dimensions: 1920x1088
Frame rate: 29.970090
Decoded format:
Orientation: Top left
Color primaries: ITU-R BT.709
Color transfer function: ITU-R BT.709
Color space: ITU-R BT.709 Range

Stream 1
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Language: English
Type: Audio
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bits per sample: 32

Two things jumped out at me. The frame rate is slightly different. But what might be at the bottom of this is that the correct video’s orientation is “Left bottom” and the incorrect video’s orientation is “Top left”.

What I think is happening is that when you playback a video that has its orientation as “Top left”, Plex rotates it so that “Top left” becomes “Left bottom”.

Can anyone tell me how to fix?
