Hey everyone,
I’ve been struggling to get Plex Pre Rolls to work on my Plex server running on Windows 10 OS, despite having a Plex Pass. I’ve tried several methods, but so far, none have been successful. Here’s what I’ve attempted:
-
Folder Path Method: I navigated to “Extras > Movie pre-roll video” and inputted the folder path: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\preroll"
-
Direct File Path Method: Similarly, I tried providing the direct file path:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\preroll\001plexhub.mp4” -
Created a New Library: I created a new library named “Prerolls” and ensured Plex could detect and play the file from this library.
In addition to these steps, I made sure to check all the necessary checkboxes under “Extras”:
- Include Cinema Trailers from movies in my library
- Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in theaters
- Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies on Blu-ray
Furthermore, I enabled “Enable Cinema Trailers” under “Libraries > Movies > Advanced”.
Despite all these efforts, when inspecting the console while starting a movie, I noticed that there’s no indication of my path or file name. Instead, I see the following logged items:
[Req#9058a0] Extras: Preroll values looks like a file, and we had 1 of them.
[Req#906331] Extras: Looking for extras for item plex://movie/6562d1d7a20738ed27a5316b with unwatched: 0 fromLibrary: 1 fromTheater: 1 fromBluray: 1 and preroll count: 0.
It seems like my changes regarding pre-rolls are not being recognized or logged.
If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you in advance for your help!
