Prefer synced content

In regards to the setting in Android app > Player > Prefer Synced content.

I have this ticked - so why is my server serving video that is synced to my android?
In order fore me to use the downloaded movie on my SD card I have to a actually turn my mobile data off on my phone, only then will it playback from my SD card.

What gives?

Top Left of the Home screen in the app. Select the letter icon to open properties. Select “Offline Browsing” and you will only see the synced content on your phone.

Hi and thanks but I am well aware of this. The 2 movies I have downloaded both play over internet unless I turn off data completely. I know this because they show in the status of the server and the network is being utilized ( when playing )

Okay perhaps I was wrong. Maybe it’s just a server status and not actually streaming the content?
When I turn off data I get no server status and … now I think about it, makes total sense

Even if you are playing synced content, your server is notified that you played it.
This is particularly useful for TV shows, so you can resume watching on a different client at the right episode/timestamp.

Also very useful if you sync not single episodes of a TV show, but the whole thing – only with a limitation to e.g. 5 episodes.
If you watch episodes on your phone, the server knows it immediately, so it can pre-transcode the next episodes in your absence. If you then get on a WiFi connection and start the Sync process, you only need to wait for the download to finish but not for the transcode.

that makes a lot of sense, thanks
