Preserving trash while I restore my movies

I’m running the latest version of PMS on macOS and I recently lost all of my movie files. I’m using my Plex library as a reference of what movies to get and re-add.

I’ve turned off emptying the trash on library scans so I can add new movies without losing the previous entries, which worked as expected. However, after a few days. I noticed that my movie library was reduced to only what’s currently on my drive and the Collections I’ve created, essentially clearing all movies that are in my trash.

Luckily, I was able to restore from a backup, but I’m wondering what could’ve caused this so I can prevent it from happening again. I noticed that all of the metadata bundles were still there, I just had to restore a previous .db backup. I’ve removed access from my shared users just in case. Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you

hmm, well I would disable library auto/scheduled scanning, and all the tasks in the scheduled tasks settings.

other than that, not sure what to suggest.
