Preview Thumbnails for some DVR shows stopped since upgrade

I did an upgrade last weekend and now for some DVR recorded shows, I do not get preview thumbnails. I do get the intro and commercial skipping. I’ve made sure that preview generation is still enabled. I looked in the logs for one of the shows and there’s lots of errors, What could be wrong? I’ll try a complete uninstall/reinstall later tonight.

I did a complete uninstall/re-install. I still don’t get preview thumbnails on new recordings. I checked an hour later. However, this morning the previews are there, so they must have been generated during scheduled tasks. So, this is a little better, but I used to get previews within minutes of a recording finishing. Maybe something cleared up overnight, so I’ll wait and see what happens with recordings later today.

Alright, I am consistently getting preview thumbnails generating overnight, but not when shows are added. In Settings → Library, I have Generate video preview thumbnails set to ‘as scheduled task and when media is added’. Can anybody help?

I am having the same issue. I downgraded to 1.29.0.6244 and it works correctly.

Thank you. I just downgraded and we’ll see how it goes tonight. Is there a better method for reporting bugs like this so someone at Plex knows about it so we might get a fix?

I am back to normal preview thumbnails within minutes of the end of a DVR recording with version 1.29.0.6244. I’ll stay there.

I wish I had an older QNAP package downloaded that I could go back to, I have this issue as well. It sucks Plex doesn’t host older versions on their site for regressions like these.

C’mon @Plex. You’ve now got at least three separate topics talking about preview thumbnails not being generated unless overnight! Like @plex will do anything.

I also got tired of waiting for the preview thumbnails issue to be resolved and thanks to your post I was also able to downgrade to 1.29.0.6244! I too will stay with this version

This issue is not fixed in 1.30.0.6486

Thanks, I’ll stick with the old version then. It still works just fine for me and I see no reason to update.

Note the announcement of Plex Media Server 1.30.2.6563 here mentions the fix below:

I does appear 1.30.2.6563 is back to generating thumbnails after recordings are added.

I upgraded as well and can confirm this bug has been fixed!
