Problem playing back .wav files

Hi guys!

I’m trying to play back .wav files on a Sony BDP-S6500 BD-player from a Plex-running Windows PC, but all I get is noise. .flac and .mp3 files play back all right. Am I doing something wrong? Is my player somehow incompatible with Plex?

Thanks!

Does this BDP have a Plex app or are you using just its generic DLNA client?

If it’s the latter, your BD Player cannot cope with wav files.

Why not converting the WAV to FLAC?
You’ll not only save some hard disk space, but will also gain metadata support.

Thank you, Otto.

Yes, I’m aware of the capabilities of lossless encoding, I just wanted to compare USB stick playback vs DLNA playback vs CD playback.

The player uses a generic DLNA client, as far as I can tell.
Looks like a hardware problem to me too, since Plex isn’t the first media server I’ve tried and I’ve had this problem before.
