Problem playing two shows in a row

  • ATV2 or ATV3?: ATV3

  • Your ATV firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software): 5.2.1 (6025)

  • The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS): 10.0.0.1

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: Mini Mac OSX 10.8.4

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on: Wireless 10.0.0.6

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: Mini Mac OSX 10.8.4

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:Wireless 10.0.0.6

  • Where your media is stored (e.g. internal drive): External Hard Drive

  • The PlexConnect version number (or if using Github source then a time and date of download; look at the creation date of the folder): 06th June 1:42pm

  • A detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better):

Everything works perfectly when first accessing Trailers and playing a tv show or movie.  I have a very odd issue in that once I have finished watching a program, I press the menu button on the remote to go back to previous menu so I can watch another show.  At this point I just get a message saying "Accessing Trailers" and eventually it comes back and says Trailers is not available.

Why is the forwarder set to 10.0.0.6? I assume your Mac mini isnt your router. Weird how your getting random iana requests.

Have you tried with the higher dns being 8.8.8.8?

What do you mean by forwarder: My Wifi IP on Mini-Mac is 10.0.0.6, I have manually configured DNS on ATV to 10.0.0.6 and I have set the DNS web server in my Settings.py file to 10.0.0.6.

Correct Mac Mini is not my router - I have a netgear router plugged directly into the wall.  My Mini-Mac is connected to the router via WiFi, My Atv is connected to the same WiFi.

How do I set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 - isn't the DNS setting on ATV supposed to match the ip address of the machine the plex server is running on?

Read the install guide, you should not be changing settings.py and you should not be changing the DNS server in PlexConnect to that of your mini.

Ok - Thanks.  I thought I had read install guides and it told me to edit setting.py file.

I have since gone back and installed latest version and it says not to make edits to settings.py file.

So I have dowloaded latest plex connect templates and followed instructions, but when I click on Trailers on ATV it just goes to trailers.  It no longer goes to plex.

When I click on Trailers App on apple tv, it still comes up with Trailers.  It doesn't show the Plex Interface.

The DNS server on your ATV should be pointing to 10.0.0.6 (the PlexConnect device), you currently have it pointed at your router i think.

Perfect - that seems to be working well now.  Thank you very much for your patience and persistence.  It appears the issue was I was using outdated instructions.

Again thank you - very happy.  I can now ditch XBMC and jailbreaking ATV (Yahoo)
