Im Going to start with something positive. I love the new app/interface on Xbox One. I have enjoyed using plex the last couple of years and how i can share my files with family with plex pass… Until now however…
In December i realised i couldn’t stream any files that were mkv because of the new Xbox One Update. when i say couldn’t stream it would play about 10 seconds, stop like it was loading, then if you waited 2 minutes you got another 10 seconds of play time. I found an article on the forums about turning off direct play. That actually worked and i could watch without any interuptions, however it was a bit slow to load, but it worked.
This month i dont know if the xbox one app has updated but i can no longer stream mkvs again with the direct play on or off. Also when playing MKV files my cpu usage on my media server is at 100% with the plex transcoder. if i watch the same files on my iphone everything is fine… what the hell is going on?
I’ll be honest im getting a bit annoyed that its not working to the point that i will stop my subscription and try another media server. I watch alot through plex using my xbox one as the player for all my series/movies. Alot of my collection is MKV and this is causing me alot of grief.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Windows Server: Intel i5 3.4ghz, 4gb ram, raid 5 drive array read speeds about 150mb/s (my server spec has been fine all this time - a few months ago i could stream 3 hd movies at once no problem)
Network: wired 10/100/1000…

Are you noticing a lot of buffering and the app freezing when trying to play a video too? The latest update has caused new playback issues for a lot of people. Plex doesn’t seem to recognize that it’s more than a small set of users, which is getting really frustrating. Post log files though to help the devs look into the issue.
@Moussa more reports of playback issues. Can you PLEASE look into this and get it fixed?
Thanks for your reply
Yes exactly that, buffers… plays for 10 seconds, stops for another 2 minutes to buffer… plays again. Where do i find the logs i should upload?
Don’t worry i found it, in server settings>help>Download Logs… couldn’t be simpler. When im home i will replicate the problem so the last file i played shows the issue.
@Moussa i am off work tomorrow, if you wanted a test case and you wanted to phone me and trial an error some things i am more than happy to do this tomorrow. I dont know if your are in the UK or US but i am free what ever time tomorrow

Make sure to turn on logs in the Xbox one app in privacy too so it captures info specifically for the Xbox one.
