I’m having a problem with remote broadcasting on my Plex server. I have a Synolgoy DS920+ NAS with DSM version 7.2.1-69057 Update 4. The NAS is composed of 4 20TB disks and is mainly used as a Plex server. The plex version is 4.87.2.

Here’s my problem:

Remote users (who have their own Plex account), can read Plex files remotely under Windows without any problem and in an unlimited way. But under IOS, after one minute of playback, the Plex player freezes and asks you to buy a Plex Pass. According to ChatGPT, IOS users shouldn’t have to pay to play my files.

I don’t know if this problem is known but I haven’t found a solution elsewhere.

The mobile app is not free. it requires the user using it meet one of these requirements

  1. have a Plex Pass of their own
  2. purchased the one time activation for their app store account (it does work with Apple family sharing)
  3. be in the Plex Home of someone with a Plex Pass
