Hei there
I just got into plex and yeah I like it very much!
But I have one problem with my subtitles. I added some films and I activated the Agent Opensubtitles. I set German to first and English to second language. But if I start a film and want to have a german subtitle it only shows me english. I checked the film on opensubtitles and there is a german subtitle. I’vd done this for several films but none has german subtitles.
Thx for the Help
Kind regards Nico
Disable the opensubtitles agent and use SubZero instead.

Thanks that helped me. But now I have a new strange problem. If I watch the film without subtitlte, but if I activate the subtitle (external srt file) it starts to buffer every 10 seconds…
That means your particular Plex client doesn’t support these types of subtitles. Therefore it asks the server to ‘burn’ them into the video picture.
For that to work, your server needs a fast CPU.
Apparently your server’s cpu is not fast enough to do that.
Yeah I’ve read that too, but my cpu usage is only about 10%

So which of these 5 subtitles did you have activated?
The german one?
Which plex client type was used?
On which kinda hardware does your Plex server run?
Please don’t revert my edits
The german srt one, its a ds218+ NAS and im watching the film on a 4k samsung TV and it was the integrated plex app off the samsung store
yeah im sorry I was confused haha
To my knowledge, the smart tv app cannot play SRT subtitles directly.
It will always ask the server to transcode.
The Celeron in your NAS doesn’t have the grunt to transcode a Bluray remux and burn in the subs.
Hm okey sad, it is not transcoding the film because it doesnt need to, but probally the subtitles alone are too heavy.
Thx
Do you know what could read srt Subs, probally ps4 App? Or only an external thing like the intel Nuc or the Nvidia Shield.
Probably all of them. But if you need 4K-abilities, then it is a modern NUC or the Shield.
No 1920p is enough for me. So a Ps4 app should be enough ok Thx
Now I have one last Question sorry, If I buy a Shield now. How do I use it? Just as a tool to play the video to my Tv or as Plex Server
And if I use it as Plex server, how am I supposed to have enough storage, can I hook it up with my NAS?
Primarily this.
tctfoxi:
or as Plex Server
You can experiment with this, yes. But I only recommend it for moderately-sized media collections. Since you must connect an additional hard disk to it to hold all the metadata.
Yes, this is possible.
For further questions about the shield please refer to https://forums.plex.tv/tags/c/plex-media-server/nas-devices/server-nvidia-shield
