I have a Windows 11 desktop serving up my tv shows and movies. The server has 16gb ram, Nvidia 1070, and i7 processor and up till recently (last few days) I have been fine with watching over the internet either with or without a VPN connection.
I am using a desktop on a guest network I have no control over, but bandwidth is highish. I had it tweaked to where I use the 720p 4mbps limit. When I play anything, I can see that the buffering loads up past the current playing position and just goes quick and stays ahead of current playing progress. Now it keeps buffering and if I limit the playback to 1.5 mbps it will buffer properly. This slowness has been haphazard the last few days.
Here is the thing that makes me question the Windows setup or wonder what I can do to optimize.
I have a backup plex server running on an unRaid docker setup. and will serve up with no limitations as I am finding out.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue of the windows plex server?
