So yesterday I used the Plex app on my LG G4 phone to cast a shuffled slide show of photos to my nvidea shield pro. Having the slideshow running I then navigated to my music library and had an album playing at the same time. My phone showed two now playing strips at the bottom. All went well for a couple of hours just adding albums to the queue. Then with no interaction from me the pictures stopped and the shield message on screen was plex had stopped working.
I looked at the play store on the shield to see what if something had updated and caused the interruption. May be unrelated but the only update recently installed was google cast.
I restarted the shield and I’ve restarted my phone but since the problem I have been unable to cast more than one thing at a time. Show pictures then try to play music and the pictures stop and musics now playing shows. Other way round the music pauses when the pictures play and touching the play icon to try and resume does nothing.
As a work around if I cast music from my phone then use the shield remote directly to play pictures i am back where I started with both playing.
Music and pictures is my main use of Plex and whilst it has never been perfect (what is so hard about gapless?) it has mostly worked.
So how do I stream music and pictures just using my phone?
The Plex server is running on a freenas box and is up to date. Server speed is not an issue. Plex server on the shield is disabled as it was pretty useless.
I’m sure no one will take any notice of this but it makes me feel better…
A couple of weeks ago it was working. Much to my surprise I could cast music then start a pictures slide show casting and both continued playing. I could add music to the queue and the pictures kept going - perfect.
Another week, another update and it is back to pictures or music and can’t have both.
Any chance of someone checking both work before releasing the next update?
This is an old thread but closely resembles my issue.
While playing a music playlist on a Roku 3, I was looking at a photo slideshow. While the photos were displaying, and a music track was finishing, the server could not load the next music track. If I stopped the slideshow, and told Plex to try the music tack again, it would start just fine. Then I could restart the slideshow.
This was repeatable and consistent for the next couple of hours. The issue happened a couple of weeks ago and I think I recently updated the server so I will try again Christmas morning when my kids are over and we want to look at photos while playing Christmas music.
I am running into the same issue loading the next track. I select retry and it plays back a few seconds then puts the error message back up on the screen. Some times I select retry repeatedly and it eventually plays the track. If I select go to next track it goes to the next one and plays fine.
Anyone have any luck figuring out what is causing this?
