Hi, got the same issue here. I’d like to add that I think this ain’t an issue with the Shield, but with the Android TV App. I have seen this issue on my own Shield but also on Philips Android TV.
There is no problem with the playback at start but if you change for another track, the old one remains “active” with no way to stop it, because Plex doesn’t see it as a playback.
The only way to stop this (for me) is to force close the app.

Playback of music via Plex still has several playback issues for me and lacks many features. There’s also the concern of screen burn-in caused by the static album cover specially on OLED TVs.
I don’t want to sound ungrateful for the music section, but moving forward it would be great if Plexamp could be integrated into the music section of Plex. If that’s not possible, perhaps consider releasing an Android TV Plexamp app?

I can also confirm that this isn’t an issue with a single device. I’m using the Plex Android TV client on my CCwGTV device and am also encountering the issue of two tracks sometimes playing at once. I think I started noticing it about 3-4 weeks ago. The only way to stop it is force closing the app. It’s really frustrating.

It’s an Android TV Issue. Both My Nvidia Shield and My Cable Tv are based on Android TV, same issue.
2 songs playing at the same time un both devices.
Still happening - no updates.
Doing a quick Google shows this issue occurring as early as March 2023 still no fix that’s odd.
Just adding in a “Me too”, very frustrating.
Whatever the first song you started playing doesn’t get purged, it just keeps playing in the background even if you change tracks. It does pause with the other music, but selecting another album seems to just start a new player.
Sorry I do not have any update sot share.
Having this issue as well with my nvidia shield, yet when I use the Samsung app directly on my TV it’s fine. a little annoying having to switch between the apps. Let’s get this fixed

Well at least a Plex employee has said something. Might be something with the android/shield app, because now it has stopped playing a lot of my other files
To be clear our QA guys I know have been able to reproduce but i don’t think the cause has been figured out yet.

This same exact issue is happening to me but on iOS plex app.
Forgot to add that what makes it worse is that it’s random. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not however when it does, the only way to fix it is to force close the application.
Same issue with Plex running on Shield TV pro. Over a month now. Changing tracks results in both playing simultaneously . . . . until it crashes. I am now casting from PC, which is my Plex server, using Plexamp. No issues with Plexamp or PC Win.10 in regard to this annoying bug.
Same issue here with Shield Pro 2019 and Plex app.
