Great that they know what the issue is, and even better that the fix is now available. But (million dollar question) how do you get the fix in without a complete reinstall of PMS on a machine? I’m not prepared to back the DB up, delete the app from my NAS, then have to contend with all of the BIF file generations, re-analyzing my media on a grand scale and everything else associated with it, just to fix a bug that was introduced by an update that broke what was working before.
How do you get the newest version of Web App the easiest way?
Yeah, so why is there a separate thread for the Web App being updated then. Once upon a time we used to be able to update the Web App itself, by deleting a few bundles and restarting Plex Media Server. Now we can no longer do this.
So, here we have a bug introduced with an update. And update that BROKE the functionality many of us use for sharing restrictions on our media. And now we can’t even update the part that’s broken until the Team makes the newest version of PMS available? In the mean time people that use sharing restrictions are now having to either move the “new” media out of the main libraries or find another way to enforce sharing restrictions on media.
Waiting on the next iteration of PMS to be released to fix this is completely unacceptable.
EDIT: Well, finally the version going through https://app.plex.tv/web/app has been updated to 2.10.7, and guess what. Now we can edit the tags we couldn’t before. Now to get it locally on our own PMS devices!
