I am trying to add Steven Universe to my library. When I tried to add it first, everything showed up, but as a mix of different shows (e.g. Game of Thrones). I fixed this just by restarting. But after restarting Season 2 no longer showed up, even though it worked before.
I changed nothing, I only restarted. I checked the formatting of the names, and they were exactly the same as a working season, but I removed the unnecessary stuff leaving: S02E01, S02E02, etc.
I have restarted multiple times since the problem arose.
I can also play it on my computer just fine. I’m not sure what to do.
For starters… you should not leave anything away.
Plex should use the show name as found in the show’s main folder… however you’ll only be on the safe side if you follow the naming conventions as exactly as possible – hence there’s no “unnecessary stuff”.
Can you fix your naming accordingly and perform a “Plex Dance” with those episodes?
move the renamed files outside the library’s folder
re-scan the library and wait for it to complete
clear cache and empty trash for this library
move the files back to their target location
re-scan the library
(otherwise Plex might recognize those files as something it already knows and stick with the current matching/naming).
TV Shows ← the folder linked to the library .. > Show A .. .. > Season 01 .. .. .. > Show A - s01e01 - episode title.ext ← episode title is optional .. .. .. > Show A - s01e02.ext .. .. .. > ... .. .. > Season 02 .. .. .. > Show A - s02e01.ext .. .. .. > Show A - s02e02.ext .. .. .. > ...
ext refers to your file’s extension
you can add the year the show has first been released in case there’s multiple shows with the same name (e.g. “Doctor Who”) – if you do so, make sure to keep the year also in the episode file’s name (TV Shows > Show A (year) > Season 01 > Show A (year) - s01e01.ext).
You find the clear cache / empty trash actions when hovering over the library and clicking the ... context menu.
Edit: I stand corrected… the ... menu only contains the Empty Trash action… the clear cache is apparently gone, so skip that one for now.
