I have been having a problem with Plex NOT auto playing the next episode in a TV Series, playback simply stops and I have to manually select the next episode.
Also, sometimes during playback the playback will simply stop and I get a spinning arrow for no apparent reason. This can last for several minutes and it feels like the server is transcoding, but when I check the file is Direct Playing.
As far as I am aware, there are no issues with my server/s and all my files Direct Play.
The file format is either H.264 (AVC)/AAC/MP4 or H.265(HEVC)/AAC/MP4.
When playback stops, my workaround is to quit back to the episode listing and select the episode I was watching and reselect it for playback, it will usually play to the end that way after a few (10) seconds of spinning arrow.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix these issues are welcome.
Same issue. Since the recent update, it no longer plays the next episode. I got it to work a couple of times by marking all episodes as watched, then marking them all as unwatched. But event that no longer seems to be working.

Thanks for the idea.
I had not considered that before and I am currently using the watched status to keep track of where I am in the series, but once I have watched the entire series or at least a whole season, I will try toggling the watched status to see if it makes any difference for me or not.

The Plex app on my FireTV just updated and now it is auto playing the next episode in a series.

It seems I was a little premature, auto playing the next episode seems to be hit or miss now. Sometimes it will auto play the next episode, but a lot of the time it wont.
I’m not sure why that is, it does not seem to be related to the files at all, but I could be wrong about that.
I have gone over my files with a fine tooth comb and I cannot find any obvious issues with them.
When it auto plays I see the countdown timer (5 secs) but when it does not auto play there is no countdown timer at all.
I also see the spinning arrow quite a lot which may be a factor here. I’m not sure why that is, my network seems to be fine as does my server ???
Anyone have any ideas?
