Problems with recording not completing

I’ve had this problem before but managed to prevent it by staying on an older version of PMS. Made the mistake of updating to the latest version hoping it would fix some other issues I was having, didn’t fix those issues but this issue is cropping up again but with a quirk. If two episodes are recording back to back, even if it’s different shows on different channels, the first seems to record OK but the second recording stops after 2-3 minutes. This has been an ongoing problem for me and it’s getting extremely frustrating since I’ve never had an actual Plex employee respond to it. In the past I’ve fixed it by reverting to version 1.29.xx, but apparently I can’t go back to that version at this point, the install fails. I don’t want to have to do what I did a few months ago which was completely delete everything and start from scratch, so I’m hoping that someone can identify why I’m having this issue. There is nothing strange in my setup. It’s running on Windows 10 with a Hauppauge 4 tuner PCIe card as the tuner. This worked fine in the past up through PMS version 1.29. Every PMS version I’ve tried after that had this same issue with varying degrees of failure. I’m hoping against hope that someone can help me this time. I’m not looking forward to having to tear it all down and start over again.

had several failures yesterday. Failures at 3 PM, 3:30 PM, 5 PM, 2 failures at 9 PM, and 2 failures at 11 PM. All recorded just 2-3 minutes of episode and stopped. Logs attached.

I gave up on the Plex DVR for many reasons, including the extremely basic scheduling abilities that still somehow managed to be constantly buggy. If you like the Plex server and clients, then you might consider using a more reliable DVR software to record into a Plex library folder. I’ve been using NextPVR for almost 5 years now – has much more flexible scheduling options including keyword recording and simple record by channel/time when needed - and it’s free. This would seem to be an option for you since you appear to have a Hauppauge PCIe QuadHD tuner on Windows – same as me. You do have to provide the EPG though (Schedules Direct or an XMLTV source).

I paid for the lifetime PlexPass DVR and really felt burned. But it just wasn’t working well for me. So I had to treat it as a sunk cost and move on to something that would actually do the job for me.

Well, I managed to revert back to 1.29.0.6209 and it seems to be working correctly now.
