Legend. All sorted
Hi there,
Much thanks for putting this together. I am using this with xTeVe and then plex. All the shows are marked as “new”, even if they have been broadcast already. I saw something about this on the old github repo. Any advice?
I’m not seeing this problem with my guide. Do you have some examples of programmes that are set as new when they shouldn’t be? A good example of a program which should be basically never set as new is any Infomercials. Are these set to new for you?
Ah I see. I presumed you were using the Freeview guide. Essentially the problem is the data source I use for SKY doesn’t tell me if a programme is repeated or not, so I can’t tell Plex that it’s not a new programme (the default is it thinks they’re all new). Unfortunately there isn’t really much I can do about it, unless my data source adds this information.
Thanks for the follow up!
Looks like the new Gracenote guide has been enabled for New Zealand. Basically it looks like it’s around the same as it was removed a couple of years ago, with many of the new channels that have been added since not being present (e.g. DUKE +1). Additionally, almost all shows don’t have any posters, and the vast majority are misidentified as movies:
(the ones with years are being identified as movies)
Even something like Coronation Street doesn’t have a match for an image, let alone usable season/episode numbers:
Looking through, I’m not sure I actually see any programmes with correct metadata outside of the basic title/description combo, which is bit of a shame, as it pretty much means it’s a much bigger job to get this guide to a usuable state that it would be if there was just a few things wrong.
So I think it’s probably best to keep using XMLTV for now! Although, it seems like the latest update doesn’t have an option for adding XMLTV to a new DVR setup, but that may just be a bug. Edit: It’s been confirmed that it still has the option, but you just need to enter a nonsense postcode for it to appear.
Apparently that’s a bug they are fixing tomorrow per this post: Multi-lineup Support Now Available - #6 by vdrover
@shea9872 I’m not sure what your source is for Sky NZ programs but the one I’ve been running for some time has just fallen over (it was using skygo.co.nz/pro-api/v1) and I can’t work out a replacement. If you are using that API as your source, you may encounter problems
Wasn’t ever using it for the TV Guide, but was using a similar one for metadata up until a couple of days ago. Thanks for letting me know anyway.

EDIT: I clicked rescan in plex and the missing channels appeared now

This text will be blurred
I opened an issue on github here:

Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Just a quick note that there has been some issues with the upstream Freeview data sources with the new channels being added. I’m in the processing of fixing these at the moment (basically only the channel names will be innacurate at the moment, the numbers and images will be correct). It seems the whole transition was pretty messy on the Freeview side (if you want proof of that, look how messy the TV guide in the official app is right now, missing channels and bad ordering everywhere!)
Hi shea9872. Have you had any luck with the changes? The Freeview guide ran out as of last night and it’s not pulling down any data, so no updating of the guide at all. Really love your work as up until this week it has been running fine. Cheers.
Unfortunately I’m at the mercy of Freeview, whose official app is also missing all of their guide data at the moment. So I’ll just have to wait until they get their act together and fix their own systems.
Noticed there i now data in the xml, but it is in format plex is reporting as unknown airing. Just an fyi in case you did not know. That said, the data being pulled in displays as unknown airing in plex, so the data may just be noise.
You may just need to do a guide refresh. There is data in there now and it shows up properly in my Plex it seems.
Just a heads up. There will likely be a significant degradation in the quality of the Sky guide data after the 31st of March due to the shutdown of Vodafone TV (which was my guide data source up until this point).
I’m using some backup data sources for some of the channels, but this is not available universally. Eventually, I plan to hook up the new Sky TV guide that is used on their new box/pod, but as I don’t have access to one, I’m not able to do that currently (if you do have one, send me a message, as I could extract some information from it, which would allow the guide to continue at the same quality).
There will be no changes to the Freeview guide data.
Hiya, Can you have a look at the SKY XML nothing in it at the moment ![]()
I’m hoping for an update to the Sky guide as well - currently my EPG is looking somewhat sparse :-{
