Plex DVR Guide/EPG not Updating

Current time is just past 12:00 and guide doesn’t have data for most channels past 14:00. Was trying to schedule a recording for later today on Channel 4 but couldn’t as there’s no EPG data. Tried manually updating the guide in the DVR settings but sits Initializing and then stops.

Plex Media (3.3 MB)

Not sure if any use here - but been asked to provide these previously in regards to DVR EPG issues -

.db, .shm and .wal for the epg database.zip (25.9 MB)

same here, I can’t manually update the EPG either.
Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28
EPG[onconnect]: Failed to load EPG.

I’d guess that the EPG resource is offline

Same issue here 17:21 19/05/19
No guide info available so removed and tried to add my tuner(s) again and it fails to retrieve the guide.

it seems to be working again now, albeit very slowly.

I’m not sure why the plex devs feel the need to update the EPG constantly, it’s a weekly guide. Every 48 hours would be fine.

Also being able to select different sources would be nice too.

The EPG comes from Gracenote so if there are issues upstream that why it happens. Not sure why you’re blaming any Plex devs. Gracenote has been having issues this past week, it affects more products than just Plex.

You can use any xmltv EPG you want

erm, how. I don’t think I’ve seen the option in the settings.

I’m not blaming the plex devs for something beyong their control, however, constantly updating the EPG isn’t something that’s required. Once every 48 hours would be fine. After all it’s a weekly guide.

My EPG updates OK manually, but when it tries to update automatically, it only updates that date and overwrites all further dates with unknown program. It is very annoying to have to spend the time to manually update the EPG every time I want to select a program to be recorded (other than those on today).

Grace notes has been having issues this week, so I gave up on themand started using another provider this week. Still working out kinks, but hopefully they don’t have the same issues as Grace notes.

And we’re back to slow or failed EPG updates again.

So to the Plex Devs.
If an EPG update fails, then please use the last update that completed. At least this way there’s still a program guide that can be used instead of all BLANK.

Secondly, why the constant updates to the EPG? Once a day or every 48/72 hours should be fine. No wonder gracenote are having problems if millions of people around the world update their EPG so often.

I know this will fall on deaf ears and nobody will pay any attention except the users, but we have to try.

Just got home (Cheshire) after two weeks on holiday and guide data is only 12hours ! If I do a manual update it does maybe 2500 entries then stops (normally 40,000!) . Is Gracenote still broken? There is something on the Plex XMLTV page (https://support.plex.tv/articles/using-an-xmltv-guide/) that suggests they’re moving to another XMLTV provider - has that happened ?

Guide data is well broken for me currently - is it working for other (UK) users today ?

nope- will not refresh. I have 0 epg info from last night onwards.

…I would happily do the xmltv thing, but cannot find a feed to do it with (that works).

[edit: typos]

Been having issues with getting EPG guide data to update reliably here too (UK)

Have posted identical problems with my Plex on other Plex forums. It seems to be a Gracenote problem?
Anyone have a work-around or alternative that works?

Sorry, should have said I am in the UK. Anyone tried these guys:

??

No but quite tempted to switch to HDHomeRun DVR…
