Program guide not updating automatically

I also have had issues getting the guide to update after repeated refreshes. I also have had had problems with the it not recording better call saul on the AMC channel. I have rebooted my machine I am on the latest 1.72 running a linux ubuntu build I have had this issue for the last several months and builds. I have updated to the latest HDHR stable firmware and rebooted it. I have no issues with the HDHR when accessed directly from other devices. Please help.

Ok so my system appears to be back to normal. Had to remove the DVR, put it back, then once it was back i had to flip all of my recordings on the right side panel from “record only new shows” to “record new and repeat episodes” then back to new only. Another force sync of the EPG and all seems to be well again. I believe the root cause was an issue on the provider side, not my system.

I tend to think it’s on the provider side as well - I just kept trying, all day long. Finally it refreshed, with no changes. This does happen a lot though, and I missed some recordings as a result … :frowning:

I rebooted, deleted the DVR and readded, running the lastest linux build…

Why is know one from Plex giving some feedback in these threads?
What is the issue and root cause?
What are the next steps to resolve?
Why isn’t there a consolidated thread re this ongoing issue that has happened over multiple build versions?

Everyone is just throwing darts at the problem with no fixes identified.

please help

OK, I have to admit - this is getting very frustrating. The guide was right yesterday, and I set up shows to record today … but it’s messed up again today, and now missing recordings. I’m missing at least 50% of my recordings because of this mess … :(.

Please can someone from Plex please check in on this. I am leaving town tomorrow and now I am going to miss all my recordings due to this bug.

@crusing you can’t manually refresh? If you can I would suggest turning on the EPG refresh in the scheduled task settings so it doesn’t try to refresh while you are gone.

Edit: turn off the EPG refresh. Wow must have been really tired when I posted that.

I’ve been seeing the same problem, but didn’t want to add a “me to” to all the posts, but figured why not as Plex Employees may think it’s not as widespread as it really is since they don’t actually use this.

Me to. PMS v1.6.1 Synology NAS

Manual EPG refresh fixes issue. I just don’t want to have to babysit it as I still have to work to earn a living. When you pay me to retire I can spend more time looking into this issue for you. Thanks.

Scheduled auto-refresh during 1-4AM timeframe schedules task timeframe.

@Plexer223 Have you tried increasing the 1-4AM timeframe. Other thread on here someone said they were seeing 2 hour time for manual EPG refresh. If your scheduled tasks runs beyond the 4AM Plex is probably cutting off the tasks wherever it is at and possibly causing some of the refresh issues perhaps. I have my refresh set to midnight to 6 am.

Auto scheduled EPG refresh (and manual when I select) takes less than 1 hour according to logs for my 124 selected cable channels on my HDHR Prime. I think it’s either an issue with how Plex handles the auto-scheduled (BUTLER?) task, or it’s an issue with the time of day when it runs as I’ve manually refreshed it during the weekends in the afternoon when I noticed issues and it ALWAYS updates the EPG Schedule then. I don’t want to change the BUTLER (auto-scheduled tasks) time to afternoon here as that’s when most of my recordings occur. I think Plex has enough feedback to realize there’s an issue, but Plex seems to be too overwhelmed with trying to add new features to attract new paying customers to actually communicate with us paying customer that are beta testing their new features if you ask me.

I have the same issue - program guide does not automatically update. Update automatically setting is checked. Manually updates OK in about 1 hour. Running the latest version of Plex on Windows Home Server 2012.

Have you tried extending the time that scheduled tasks can run? I have a few problems every now and then. I haven’t tracked it down to a time frame yet, so I don’t know if it is weekly, every three days, or some other random time frame. I know from looking at the settings under the scheduled tasks that some things appear to run daily, some every three days, some every week. If your normal scheduled tasks takes the full three hours scheduled on a typical night it might not be enough time for the tasks run every three days or the weekly tasks. I would suggest extending the time to 6 hours, perhaps midnight to 6:00 am and see if that helps.

I can manually refresh fine. Tried turning the automatic off and back on. Just got back from my trip and yep, I missed some recordings due to the guide running out of data. I extended time for jobs and no difference. I only have 68 enabled channels. My manual refreshes finish in 15 minutes. Unless the timing was pure coincidence, I never had this issue until the upgrade. Upgraded to 1.7.3.3937 last night. Will see if that makes a difference.
