What agent are you using to identify / recognize the files, and are they in a Movie library? I don’t think Plex will get info if you have it in an “Other Video” library. Not sure how using the “Personal Media” agent works, but I’m gonna guess you will have to supply your own information.
That`s exactyl the point. I did like I told yesterday:
The File name is:
Gosford.Park.2001 for the Folder and the file
Let.the.rigth.one.in.2008 for the Folder and the file
Actually this should work, right?
Hi, what do you mean with agent? Honestly I don`t understand…
leelynds is referring to the component that’ll identify the movie matching your file (and subsequently loads your metadata).
Check ...
> Manage Library
> Edit...
→ Advanced
> Agent
from the library entry in your menu.
Edit:
When you click the ...
on the movie itself… do you see a Match
or a Fix Match
menu item?
The proper naming convention would be “Let The Right One In (2008).mkv”
Here’s a snapshot from my library:
I do not put my movies in sub directories… but that’s a personal choice. Plex recommends you do so. I’m just illustrating the file name convention you should use.
Hi, thanks for your message. The Filename is Let.the.right.one.in.2008.mkv. The Foldername without mkv.
Should be:
Let the Right One In (2008).mkv
No periods
For example. I just dlded a movie with this name and it works great wikt PLEX. It got recognised.
Leon.the.Professional.1994.REMASTERED.Directors.Cut.German.DTS.DL.1080p.BluRay.x264-MULTiPLEX
Till it doesn’t. If you wish not to follow the Naming and structure conventions of Libraries, it will not work always.
Using [ ] Brackets, everything inside those brackets are ignored by Plex
Your right man!! I did it without the dots and the year in (2008) and its working:-)
Thanks a lot man, but its still confusing for me, But I
m new with PLEX and I have to learn.
Thank you guys for your help Really great support:-)
This isn’t relevant to your movie naming, but I notice that you use backticks ` in your typing. (That’s why some of your forum messages have text in red
- the forum software treats text between backticks as special.)
I’m just curious which keyboard layout you use.
Hi, I am using a swiss imac keyboard, maybe that`s the problem…
Like you said its the
Thanks for showing me!
Hi guys, like I told you guys, I started with making MKVs of my blu rays. It is working fine, but there is a different between the files I made and the dldes files.
- Some of mine are buffering and I do not know why? What I can say it has nothing to do with the size of the files. Smaler ones are buffering too. Is it possible this has something to do with the subtitles?
- Some of mine are not playing sound in original format. I have to go one step back for example from original 22GB to 20gb and then the sound is working.
Thank you guys inadvance for your feedback.
Hi Guys, I need your help again. I have amovie now calles “Room”. PLEX do not recognised the movie anymore and I made the file like you guys told me:
Room (2015) and Room (2015).mkv
It was working already, but I found a better verison of the movie, so I deleted the old one. At the upload I could see the movie in PLEX, but suddenly it was gone.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot in advance
Beste regards
Robert
Check movies with a “Blue 2” Under the dots - Get Info - locate and ‘Split’, then
Fix Match.
I have 6500+ Movies in 175 Collections:
Of those I have some ‘Duplicates’ - and I know how many:
When I add a Movie and it disappears I know it probably got mismatched and Merged with another movie. I’ll be able to find it easily - 'cause it’ll be a New Duplicate of a Movie that shouldn’t be Duplicated.
Roll the mouse over a suspected Poster, click the dots, ‘Get Info’ and the file path with the exact file names for both Movies in the Merge will be there… and one of them will be an imposter. <—the Movie I just added.
I find it, Split it - then Fix it’s Match to the correct Movie.
When you’ve done that about a thousand times - it’s gets easier.
Tip:
When I’m ‘upgrading’ a movie, I make sure Filebot is making a new name for it - and it is with [1080p x265] tag - probably. I just drop the movie in a folder - one of the multitude available - and Plex will Merge them. Merged movies share all the metadata of the original, including which one of those 175 collections it’s in - so I don’t have to figure it out - again.
It’s a breeze to find the duplicate and delete the old one from Get Info - after Plex has finished indexing it. <— when the spinner stops spinning.
Hi and thanks for your message. I did like you showed me, but there are no duplicates!?
And even without the signes, I checked every movie.
This must be something else…
Hi Otto, just wanted to ask if you have an idea about my problem?
Thank you!
If it is this one Room (2015) - IMDb
Change the folder and/or filename to
Room (2015) - {imdb-tt3170832}.mkv
And remove the file,
scan the library,
empty trash
add the file again
scan library
