Why is Cheech Chong movie labeled as a Rambo movie?

so i have 2 movies if i do the plex dance doesnt matter

First Blood (1982)
It Came From Hollywood (1982)

always link both as duplicate if you do Fix Match they both show up as options under it came from hollywood but they labled different… but if you choose First Blood Fix match, it doesnt find it came from hollywood… i use Plex Movie to choose
and i double checked themoviedb.org to make sure no alternate names
but nothing linked to each other…
so how i fix that for to unlink it came from hollywood from first blood… so it doesnt happen to other people etc

I had this problem with some of my movies.

I use IMDB to check the names of movies - most of the time. Then NAME the Files and Folder accordingly.

For instance – First Blood (1982) - IMDb - does not have RAMBO in the title at all. Just FIRST BLOOD (1982). You have to be careful with movies which have a : (colon) in them - as on WINDOWS - that character is not valid in many cases for filenames.

I found It Came from Hollywood (1982) - IMDb for this movie.

I have found also that extra spaces can sometimes cause problems.

One of my old movies that never would match properly in XBMC - I named the movie with the IMDB number at the end. I then used MEDIA CENTER MASTER to collect other Metadata and artwork - etc. It also would create the folders and rename files so that they worked in XBMC.

While PLEX is far better so far than XBMC (i.e. KODI) - in my opinion. I think all the work I did years ago with the folder naming has helped when I moved to PLEX. As the HDD and folders were already in proper organization.

So far with PLEX only one movie gave me any problem - AFTER EARTH (2013) - it continually would bring in a COVER / ARTWORK in another language. I just manually adjusted this in PLEX.

ya i have added alternative names on the moviedb so it if had a : colon i just removed it or i added “-” a dash as i have done - where a colon be there isnt 1 standard i found so makes it hard..
ya i rename to IMDB but i find also plex doesnt find it if its the Title it looks at the Orginal Title or vice versa so i do like it plex just when i rename properly i wonder what i doing wrong

here you can see when it scans it always lables it came from hollywood as first blood
and i checked thetvdb and moviedb both only do First blood not rambo.. and i dont know how they link it came from hollywood to first blood? all it is is the same year lol
unless its because they have a small “F” and i used a capital F

nope didnt matter if i change F to f still found it first blood for it lol first blood must have from in it lol

and if i were to convert all videos to MKV the can plex write meta tags to the files and then it wont have a problem if i have to reload the entire database? since sometimes i had to reinstall server or plex folder when corrupt and i had to re start from scratch and sort… but can plex save the meta tags to the files so no issues of searching after

Just change the container with MKVToolnix, takes less than a minute, remove avi from the Title folder.

is that the same as Avidemux? as i know that doesnt do batch and i was going to convert all my videos to mkv
but ill give it a try

It may make them Direct Play more often, but it won’t help with the matching.
Plex reads no data from ANY files - other than MP4/M4V - so that’s not the issue.

It looks like your files are named correctly - so we have to just chalk it up to ‘one of those things’.

Fix Match.
Get Over It.

Note:
I use FileBot and even I Fix Match sometimes.
So long as it’s rare - deal with it - I do.

ah ok no worries i was only asking and if there was something i was doing wrong or could fix… but i appreciate all the input… (:

It looks to me like you’re doing everything right - and file naming is most of it.

If you’re Fixing Match more often than not - that’s a problem.
Until then - don’t worry about it.
Keep naming your files correctly.

But BY ALL MEANS - if you can rid your existence of ANY AVI files - please, don’t let us stop you. Mux those things to MKVs with MKVToolNix and if they play - schedule a party.

oh ok does the MkVToolNix offer like plex you move the files into the folder and it automaticlly converts it?
so avi isnt as good as mkv and mkv is better then mp4 i get confused soo many formats
its currently installing mkvtoolnix on unraid server

oh and i have had to fix match a bunch what i was practicing doing it was
have plex scan and if it didnt work i fixed the naming… i made sure i fixed all nameng

and then what i do is move the files out do the plex dance and then copy back and see if plex found them all so i had everything proper… also uploading posters to mymoviedb so there be a poster for them

AVI files - suck.
They won’t Direct Play on - hardly anything.

Sometimes you can remux the streams in an AVI file to MKV and sometimes they’ll even work - and Direct Play.

If they don’t work - or Direct Play - there’s no advantage in a remux… if you know what I mean.

Look for some nice clean HEVC, plenty on offer. There seems to be a big deal, get as many as you like for free. Just run them through MKVToolNix first.

If their ‘Sell By Date’ is BEFORE 5/4/2020
After that they’re fit for consumption in their natural state.

Point taken, it definitely helps to keep your day free .

BUT - an MKV is preferable over an MP4 - and if you’re not already doing that with Xmedia Recode (or something), MKVToolNix is well fit for purpose.

ah ok i know in past i ripped my dvds to avi
and only do direct play and use my xbox one to direct play
i do notice some shows if i fast forward rewind it will go into buffering and it will sit there endless buffering i let it sit there 10 min buffering till i exited and then re went back in…
is that a xbox issue or is that my media not being in a mkv format
and is mkv better then mk4

but ya if if the mvktoolnix can batch it… it can fix all my old dvd rips so i dont need to re rip them…
as i used to use GordonKnot and dvd decrypter to rip and encode back then

Might want to upgrade/acquire Handbrake and up your encoding game a few notches.

The times they have changed - greatly - best you change with them:

If ripping DVD, I suggest MakeMKV.

https://www.makemkv.com/

ah ok thank you ill check that out… i bet its alot easier… when i used gordonknot etc took a few hours to encode my dvds and this is back before netfix

as for Xmedia Recode does that do batch? i just loaded up the MKVToolNix in unraid says ver8 current version 46 but it wont like me download upgrade.

but seems only can do 1 file… so im guessing i will be doing it 1 file at a time i got time damn covid lock down …
or can i just slam all my videos in the source section and it will output them properly
