Hi
I'd like to say in advance that I did read the pinned thread about buffering. First some background information:
The file is an mkv file, transfered with 2,7-4mbit usually. My server's upload is 18mbit, the download on my side is 16mbit, so transfer speeds are good enough. The CPU load on the server is 4-15%. My router's CPU load is <5%. Streaming is obviously done by my PS3.
Now the problem:
Basically I have random buffering. Sometimes I don't have any throughout an entire episode which is 4mbit, sometimes I have some every minute on a 2,7mbit file. Even movies with 10mbit run better some times, but i barely watch those. It's really random. When I look at my routers real time traffic the upload is usually at 400-500kb/s, but sometimes it just drops down to 150kb/s or less, which is too slow to stream. Neither traffic at the server side nor the home side can't be causing this issue since there is barely none. So what could the issue be? How could I fix this? Can I fix it? Hope anyone can help :/
Edit: Right now I'm watching a 3mbit show, if I leave it buffer it's fine until it reaches the "end" of the buffering. Then it buffers, runs 5s, buffers again, runs 5s etc. Earlier today it didn't buffer at all at a file with about the same bitrate.
Edit2: With the help of some guys in the IRC channel we've narrowed the issue down to be the app, at least most likely. My phone streams the same kind of file perfectly at the same location as my PS3 (so same distance/obstacles to router). The CPU usage on both server and router are low, transfer rates are high enough, traffic/plex is not being used by anyone else and my laptop work fine. So it's either the PS3 self or the app, but since it works fine most of the time I assume that it isn't the PS3 cuz then it would have trouble handling it all the time.
Kind Regards
